Psalm 52:5 WELCOME: In this winter season with its cold air and beautiful snow, we come here to worship our Creator God who promised that while the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night shall continue with the changing season. May your worship here today be sincere and filled with reverence before your God. Please join us after this morning s service for refreshments and fellowship in our Fellowship Hall. Children aged 3-5 meet your teacher in the foyer during the offering this morning for Children s Church. Today at 2:30 PM, Care Center Devotions will be provided by Group #2. If you are in this group, you will have instructions in your church mailbox. Fun & Fellowship will be hosting a game night TONIGHT after the evening service. We will be serving soup. Please bring games and goodies to share for dessert and as a snack during game time. ABOUT OUR MESSAGES This morning, our series through Acts, King on a Mission, continues. People don t get into God s kingdom on their own, but instead, God often uses guides. We find one such guide in Acts 8:26-40, whose witness to the King begins with the question, Do You Understand What You Are Reading? This evening, we complete a four week study on marriage. Often, people treat the honeymoon phase of marriage as the high point; however, the nature of love as seen in Song of Songs 8:6-7 means love ought to endure and grow long after the honeymoon is over.

5 Beginning next week, we will be joining with other churches of the Platte Ministerial Association for our annual 6-week Lenten Worship Services. Note: services begin at 6 PM! PRAYERS AND PRAISES Welcome New Members: At our recent meeting, the council voted to receive the membership of Ian and Valarie Kuipers, along with their son, Ezekiel, from Niekerk CRC in Holland, Michigan. Please welcome them and pray that they would be blessed as members of Platte CRC! OUR ANNOUNCEMENTS Elders will meet this Tuesday, February 13 at 7:00 PM in the Council Room. Two of the GEMS' classes are working on the Dolls badge. In connection with this, we will be donating dolls and accessories to the Mitchell Area Safe House. Contributions of new or very gently used clean dolls will be accepted. They cannot accept soft stuffed dolls- only ones that can be wiped clean. If you would like to donate a doll and/or accessories, please put in the container provided in the Fellowship Hall. Spring Book Study: Throughout Scripture, the word covenant pops up again and again. It s a word we hear, but what does it mean? And how is it relevant to our Christian life? Understanding covenants in the Bible better can help you understand the Bible better and then know Christ better. Pastor Drew would like to lead a study of Covenants Made Simple: Understanding God s Unfolding Promises to His People, by Jonty Rhodes, on Wednesday evenings at 7:15, beginning March 21. If interested, contact him by March 11.

6 AREA ANNOUNCEMENTS Grief Support Group will meet Monday, February 12 in the Chapel at the Good Samaritan Society, Corsica at noon. Lunch provided. Due to changes in winter weather, please call if you question whether the meeting will be held. Days for Girls Team will be sewing together on Friday, February 23 at the Platte Senior Citizen s Center from 10 AM 3 PM. Potluck at noon. Non-sewers will have jobs to do. Kits for girls are being made for an orphanage in Uganda. Fabric donations are welcome please find a fabric guideline sheet in the Days for Girls church mailbox one of the last boxes on the west side. Call for more information. Experience Cursillo, a short course in Christian living. Men s weekend starts Thursday eve, Feb 22 Sunday afternoon, Feb 25. The Women s weekend starts Thursday eve, Mar 1 Sunday afternoon, Mar 4. Dakota Christian School educates children and young people from the perspective of God s Word, in the Holy Bible, in all subjects. We emphasize God s truth in all areas of life to equip students for service in our world today and tomorrow.
