6 Pastoral and Finance Councils Moving From Maintenance to Mission Building the Kingdom of God How can we make this big parish feel small? Over 6,400 people part of over 2100 families belong to Resurrection Parish. Our Mission is to grow in our own faith, deepen our roots in our faith, and deepen the relationship that each one of us has with Christ and with each other in Christ. As well, we want to reach beyond the walls of our church and our current parishioners, into our community, to share and spread God s love, joy and Word to our neighbors and community. Communications & Public Relations is responsible for distributing welcome kits to new parishioners, coordinate social events throughout year like a parish/community barbeque, pancake breakfasts, Harvest Supper, Halloween party and family bingo night, etc. Ecumenism is responsible for the education of the Parish on ecumenical issues. This committee shall act as a liaison with other Christian churches and other faith groups in the area and in the development of interchurch activities. Help coordinate and promote Praise in the Park, World Day of Prayer. Social Justice is responsible for the development of programs, ongoing education (Church s biblical and social teachings) and involvement within justice and service issues at the local, national and international level. Christmas hampers, senior food hampers, coordinating donations of items for various needs in the community are some of our projects. Spiritual Development develops, promotes, and monitors educational and spiritual programs and activities which respond to the parishioner s faith and spiritual needs. We hold Men s Faith Night and Women s Faith Morning, Alpha, Prayer Ministry Workshop; Charismatic Prayer Ministry; Rosary Days; Bible Studies, parish based retreats, Life in the Spirit Retreat, and Monday s for Mom s drop in group. Stewardship is responsible for creating awareness in all parishioners that everything we have comes from God: our life, our talents, our abilities, our intellectual gifts, our resources, and our holiness. Recording Secretary is responsible for taking the minutes at the pastoral council meeting and distributing to the participants Building and Grounds is responsible for maintaining the operation of the physical building, coordinating construction and renovation to the building Financial Administration is responsible for maintaining an inventory of temporal goods, develop collection counter procedures, help establish parish budget, monitor parish revenue flow, and ensure prompt payment of parish accounts Ministry of Care provides Pastoral Care to parishioners and their families who are sick, elderly, homebound, or experiencing a time of need or in need of care. They coordinate communion to shutins, Bereavement Support sessions, DivorceCare sessions, World Day of Sick and the AdoptASenior Program.
7 Archdiocesan Weekly February 24, th Sunday in Ordinary Time TF127: Deacons Where Are They Now Part 2 In just four years our Archdiocese has gone from 3 Permanent Deacons to a full dozen! The question is, what do you do with them all? From hammers and saws to work with our indigenous partners, we dig into what all our new Deacons have been up to these past few months this week on Thinking Faith! Stewardship Bulletin Bit But rather, love your enemies and do good to them, and lend without expecting anything back. (Luke 6:35) Easier said than done, right? But, if we are to imitate Christ, most of us need to practice mercy and compassion more frequently. Start with the little daily annoyances that we experience, the unkind word or hateful glance we receive. Instead of plotting revenge on that person, try saying a quick prayer for that person. Mercy and compassion will put us on the path to holiness. From the Youth Office The Archdiocese of Regina Youth Ministry office is working to establish a small group ministry specifically for young adults. Please contact us if you are interested in being part of a small community (about 1015) people who are in a similar place in life as you are and are seeking to grow in faith. Small groups will meet weekly or biweekly (depending on the decision of the group) and will gather in people s homes to build community, learn, pray and socialize. If you are interested in being part of such a group, please contact Michelle Braden at mbraden@archregina.sk.ca or by calling ext Leaders needed! On March 3031, the My Gen Diocesan Youth Rally will be held at Archbishop M.C. O Neill High School for students in grades 912.We need many, many adult leaders, to spend the weekend with us; fulfilling roles of all kinds. (We need prayer warriors, small group leaders, behind the scenes folks, security, firstaid and much, much more! There is a place for YOUR gifts!)
