1 JOHN CALVIN PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH Natural Bridge Road Bridgeton, MO Call Check us out at Newsletter: Today is Thursday, June 14, 2018 ABOUT THIS SUNDAY JUNE 17 FROM PASTOR JOHN I have a great uncle who was named Valentine Kallal. He had a farm in Jerseyville, Illinois. I would sometimes get to visit and spend the night at the farm when I was real young. I remember Uncle Val would let me ride on the tractor with him as we went out and checked the fields. He primarily grew corn. But when the seeds were freshly planted, there was not much to look at in those fields. Uncle Val, who was a very good practicing Catholic would say, Johnny, you can't see much, but all we have to do on God's earth is plant the seed and let God do the rest. That will be our theme for this Sunday. We are really just called to do two things: be seed planters and crop harvesters. We need to trust that God will make things grow. This Sunday we also welcome Commissioners of the 223rd General Assembly of our Presbyterian Church which will be meeting in St. Louis for this next week. Please join us for worship and plan to stay for lunch with the GA Commissioners. ALSO THIS SUNDAY JUNE 17 9:30 10:25 escrip PROGRAM UPDATE John Calvin Church received $64.78 from the Schnucks escrip Community Card Program during February This increases our total receipts to $10, since we started the program. This program includes both Food and Pharmacy purchases. Thank you for your continued support. THE BEST FATHER Unlike an earthly prince, God didn t take a high-and-mighty title, notes 17th-century British preacher Thomas Watson. Instead, God calls himself Father to encourage us to pray to him. But God isn t just any father.
