6 PRAYERS pray with condolences The sympathy of the congregation is extended to DHPC members Ken, Carol, and Michael Wideman on the death of Ken s aunt, Faye Wideman, Tuesday, December 23, 2014 in Birmingham, AL at age 92. Faye had several serious health problems which were complicated after she broke her pelvis in a fall at home. Wade s sister. pray for our world Gracious and loving God, we return to you with sore knees and heavy hearts from the time we have spent praying for your help in the very difficult year we have endured. We know you are there for us, Lord, listening to our requests as we have prayed for all those who are suffering and struggling and, yes, those who continue to fight with their neighbors. While we knock on the door of a new, fresh year, we could use a break from the prayer fatigue we are feeling and, so during this Christmas season we are thankful that you sent your very own Angel to Earth with the news of the birth of your son, Jesus. As we have been fearful of the violence in the world, we can see that there was probably fear in the hearts of Joseph, the shepherds, and others who could not possibly understand what you were doing to change the world. Open our hearts, Lord, to the message from your Angel to be not afraid. We pray, Heavenly Father, for your guidance and the courage to step up and do what needs to be done, in your name, in order to create the peace in our own personal space. If each of us can love and forgive others in our lives, we will be taking a step toward that peace we know you desire for all of your children. We pray this in the name of your blessed son.

If you would be willing to host a college student for the evening of January 13, please contact Keith Walker at khwbari@gmail.com for more information LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY KICKOFF Thursday, January 22, 6-8:30PM Central Outreach & Advocacy Center and Presbyterians for a Better Georgia are hosting a legislative advocacy kick0ff for those interested in learning more about the intersection of faith and public policy. Participants will hear from legislators, experienced advocates, and lobbyists. The event is being held at Central Presbyterian Church and dinner will be included. Attendees will be asked to make a suggested donation. For more information or to register contact Sharon Damelio at or sdamelio@centraloac.org. COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS MORNING BREAKFAST A SUCCESS Thanks to DHPC members and friends neighborhood residents had a welcoming place to come for Christmas breakfast. Converse Hall was decorated for the occasion and a delicious breakfast was provided for those who otherwise may not have had an opportunity to enjoy a tasty, home cooked meal or good company in which to enjoy it. In addition to a warm meal socks, gloves, and caps were given as gifts for guests. What a wonderful way to celebrate the birth of Jesus! Thank you for your support of this ministry!

8 MEET REV. KATE McGREGOR MOSLEY Rev. Kate McGregor Mosley is the newly appointed Executive Director of Georgia Interfaith Power & Light - a faith-based environmental organization, which DHPC supports. Kate joined GIPL in January 2012 after serving for two years as the Executive Director of Earth Covenant Ministry (ECM), our Presbytery's environmental ministry. ECM merged with GIPL in 2012 and Kate became GIPL's first Director of Congregational Support. Kate is an ordained Presbyterian minister, having earned degrees from Eckerd College (FL) and Columbia Theological Seminary (GA). Kate lives in Decatur and worships with her family at North Decatur Presbyterian Church when not on the road with GIPL preaching and teaching in other congregations. CHURCH STAFF Pastor: Rev.
