Thank you to Ahe & Kili (Kaili s siblings), along with Kaylani, who helped Aunties Jackie & Laurie hide the eggs that morning. Mahalo nui loa to those that donated the plastic eggs & candies for this annual event. As you can see from the photos, the children had so much fun! 3 Page 3 April 22, 2018 was when we said goodbye to Bill and Rachel May. They are truly loved and will be surly missed as they leave for their new home in Washington D.C. Pictured above, Ruth Yoshioka speaks on behalf of the church congregation, expressing love and appreciation for the May s outstanding service for the glory of God at St. Mary of Mo ili ili. Pictured left, is Marian Grotto, a beautiful peaceful garden that was solely designed, and built by the Mays from a patch of dirt. It is a visual testament of Bill and Rachel s labor, love and maintenance. Bill and Rachel was also known and admired for their sponsoring of Exchange Students and introducing them to the St. Mary of Mo ili ili family Photos this page by Rev. David Blanchett
4 Page 4 Dear Disaster Preparedness Officer I've attached pics of our field exercise this morning along Ala Wai stream in Mo`ili`ili. Project in cooperation with UH Manoa. Helps provide data to determine water levels. Mo`ili`ili has been subject to flooding over the years. Roy Horimoto included in pic remembers times when water would be knee level in parking lot. This was before the contemporary chapel was built. The chapel would be subject to flooding if we had a major storm. Aulani can fill you in on all the details. *********************** Rev. Gregory Johnson Further details... David, To add to what my father is sharing. The SMART project looks to provide essential stream data via "data loggers" that measure: - temperature - depth (via water pressure) - turbidity (via light penetration) - as well as take measurements of the visual color spectrum (e.g. red, green, and blue) to indicate potential presence of chemical pollutants This data will be uploaded and used by UH Oceanography Dept to gain a better understanding of how the stream systems in Ala Wai Watershed are functioning. Measurements will also help to improve communication of storm events (i.e. flash floods). St. Mary's of Mo'ili'ili has officially launched our own data logger today, as part of this effort. The unit has been named "Ho'awa" after the plant and lane that runs close to church. There are 24 other data loggers that have been distributed, mostly to intermediate and high schools, for them to deploy as St Mary's did, targeting different sections of streams in watershed. Participants are charged with helping UH staff collect data from loggers, by helping to ensure they are kept in stream in correct position, and recovered as needed. Aulani Johnson

In the ecumenical spirit, St. Mary of Mo ili ili donated 25 pound bags each of flour, rice and sugar. Three bags of teen clothing were also donated. St. Christopher Episcopal Church is located: 7208 Duben Ave., Anchorage, AK Rose Njuguna donated a five quart crockpot to St. Mary of Mo ili ili s Hale Mo ili ili (Guest House). Pictured in photo on right is Rose Njuguna in red dress presenting crockpot to Rev. Martha Blanchett for the Guest House use. For four Wednesdays in May, Rev. Martha will use the crockpot to make bean soup to be enjoyed by those who attend the 6-7pm You Tube Gospel Sing-a-long.

Scott Stamps and Marie Smythe (photo on right) will be at the homeless outreach every last Thursday to provide showers. In the upper right photo, Scott is with Connie who was the first person to use the Hiehie shower at our site. Hiehie joins our other faithful vendors: IHS, Veteran Services, Hawaii Legal Aid, University of Hawaii Medical and Aloha Care. Gather to pray before their direct service feeding the needy
