Bodington Hospital Carols St Vincent DePaul Parent Body BBQ Fundraiser School Opal Card Fancy Dress Disco Dear Parents and Carers I am very pleased to be back in Australia and here at St Canice s. My experiences were amazing in Amman, Tiberius, Jerusalem, Rome and Assisi. Our Pilgrimage group visited many places and celebrated Mass together in large, small and even tiny churches/ chapels. To be able to follow in the footsteps of Jesus Christ was a great honor. I feel that now I have an even better idea how Jesus lived and His impact on our world. Fr Chris De Souza was our Chaplin and spiritual advisor. His message and challenge to us all on the pilgrimage was uplifting. He helped us accept our own faults and failings. He helped us understand that we can always be close to God, even when things go wrong. Fr Chris reminded us of what Arch Bishop Anthony said to us a couple of years ago when he was the Bishop of Parramatta; - Saints are sinners who keep on trying. Never give up trying to do God s works. I placed our school crucifix on the altar near the Garden of Gethsemane. Fr. Chris blessed the crucifix as we said prayers for the St Canice s community. I also put your prayer intentions in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the place where Jesus was buried. I offered up these intentions during quiet prayer time. Many thanks to Mrs. Van der Walle who was the acting Principal in my absence. Also to Mrs. Garrett who worked in Year 1 for the past 3 weeks. 3 Enrolling Now for 2016 St Vincent depaul Hampers Children are asked to bring in items for the Christmas hampers by Friday 4th December. If possible, so that there is a variety of items to fill the hampers, could the children bring in items as per list below: Kinder Tins of Fruit, Christmas cakes, puddings or other Dessert items. Year 1 Tins of vegetables, pasta, gravox, rice biscuits. Year 2 Custard, cream, milk (all long life), jellies, jam, honey, vegemite Stage 2 Drinks eg soft drink, fruit juice, cordial, coffee, tea, sugar, hot chocolate, milo. Stage 3 Tins of shoulder ham, salmon, tuna, stews, lollies chips. As well you might like to include Christmas Bon Bons, decorations or napkins to make Christmas a little more special for the needy families in our community. Fancy Dress Christmas Disco Don t forget to send in your order form for the Disco. Orders must be received before Friday 4th December. An order form is attached to this newsletter. School Leadership 2016 The applications for School Leadership roles are now closed. The speeches for School Leaders will be on Wednesday 25th November in the Open Area at 11:30am. Years 3-6 will be attending. All parents are welcome Library News Mrs Hartnett is looking for help from parents next Monday 30th November, Tuesday 1st December and Wednesday 2nd December from 8.45am to help with Stocktake in the Library. If you are able to assist please leave your name at the Office. Return of Library Books for Stocktake Please return any St Canice book you may have at home, even though you have not received an overdue notice. That could be a reader or Library book, even if it has been in your home for days, months, years! Once the system is in return mode, we don t register the name of the returnee. We work on a trust basis, as the Library is so open. We know we have many beautiful books and know that sometimes they are taken home without registering with the computer to log in their name. Also books have an interest life span, and once that interest has passed, the books just sit there. So have a tidy up before Christmas and send any St Canice book back. We are just grateful for the return of our books, because it is usually the only copy, being a small school we have a very small budget. A reminder, St. Columba s, being a Parramatta Dioceses school, share the same Libray system. So in order to borrow at High School you need to have returned all books to St Canices. Your outstanding overdue registers on their Loan system, and the student is unable to borrow books until the St Canices books are returned. St Columba s cannot return our books as it needs to be returned on the St Canices system. So make sure the books are returned to us. Needed Small Jars Sr Colleen is asking for small jars for her Christmas Stall. Small jars like Vegemite and Infant jars are required. Please leave your donations at the Office. Parent Body Fundraiser BBQ We Need You This Sat 28th Nov 9 am 2pm Please return tear off slip asap School Fees Parents are advised that all school fees are now over due. Please contact the Office if you are having financial difficulties. Financial Transactions at the Office Notice is given that the last day for financial transactions at the Office will be Wednesday 9th December. Uniform Pick up Please note that all orders for Kinder 2016 and any other school Uniform orders need to be collected and paid by Wednesday 9th December.

The bus will be leaving school at approximately 10am and is expected to return by 12 noon. Please return permission notes by this Friday 27th November. Monthly Family Mass St Canice s Church are organising a Family Mass on Sunday 13th December at 10 am. All families are welcome to attend this special celebration. Each month there will be a special family blessing followed by a sausage sizzle or morning tea. KOOSH KOOSH have advised that they will be open on Thursday 17th and Friday 18th December and also Wednesday 27th January. These dates are scheduled Staff Development Days. Please contact KOOSH to make arrangements. Blackheath Community Carols As in previous years the Blackheath Baptist Church in association with the upper Blue Mountains community will be holding a Community Carol evening on Sunday 13th December.
