Many of them were in church this past Sunday, so please welcome them to CRUMC when you see them on campus. If you have time to provide lunch for them during the week, please stop by the Connection Point and select a day that you can serve lunch. You will need to provide lunch for 14 people Thank you in advance for helping to serve lunch. Last week we looked at the Baptism of Jesus and the temptations he faced in His life. We spoke about how a believer who has been baptized has been made clean through confession, repentance and forgiveness by receiving the Holy Spirit. We said Jesus invites us into the water to be made clean, for we are all broken and in need of a savior, and God says to us that we are His child in whom He is well pleased. Jesus was baptized, not because he was in need of forgiveness, but to show us the way back to living as God would have us live. When you and I claim to follow Jesus and are baptized, we are claiming to live as a new person in Christ with a changed mind that leads to a changed heart, with changed values that leads to a new life style. Jesus baptism was an ordination in which He was set aside and empowered for His mission and purpose in drawing people to God.

For you and me as Christ followers, we too through our Baptism, were claimed by God, anointed with the Spirit, and set aside for God s purposes. Will you accept God s call on your life and live as God calls you to live? If you are willing to say yes, you will walk in the footsteps of Jesus. WEEKEND WORSHIP This weekend we will explore the ruins of Capernaum and we will discover that 80% of Jesus ministry took place in and around Capernaum. It is an area about the size of the Central Florida area, from Kissimmee in the south to Mount Dora to the north. We will look at how Jesus began his ministry after returning from spending 40 days fasting and praying in the desert. We will follow his journey from his home town of Nazareth to his adopted town of Capernaum, and we will see how he called his first disciples to join him on his journey. Lastly, we will see how Jesus healed the sick and the needy. I pray that you will invite friends and family to join us on this journey as we seek to walk in the footsteps of Jesus. Baptisms Would you like to be baptized? On Palm Sunday, March 24, at 4 p.m., we will be going to the river to hold submersion baptisms. If you are interested in submersion or sprinkle baptisms, please sign up at the Connection Point. We will have more information in the weeks to come. EASTER OUTREACH EVENT We need your help. Please stop by The Connection Point and sign up to help with this event. Crystal River can only be successful if you are willing to make things happen. I know you want to see people come to know Jesus, but more often than not it does not start with Sunday morning worship. Many times it starts with you making a new friend, who then will come with you to church. This Easter Outreach Event, which includes an Easter egg hunt and breakfast with the Easter bunny, is a way of meeting and inviting new friends to church. Help us make this outreach a success; sign up at The Connection Point. SHARE YOU GIFTS Part of making a church work is filling in the gaps where we cannot afford paid staff. We are in need of people learning to run the sound board, operate the multimedia system, and build the media presentation for worship. If you have experience or would like to learn, contact the front office and let us know you are willing to serve. If you would like to serve by helping out with data input we could use your gift. If you have experience in finances and quick books we could use your gifts. If you are handy at fixing sinks and doing minor repairs around the church, we could use your gifts. If you like to work in the yard and keep things looking good, we could use your gifts. The church is God s house and, like your own home, things need to be maintained. We do not have or need to spend money keeping up God s house when we have all the talent in the world attending this church. Your act of serving is a part of tithing back to the church, so consider where you might help out by using your gifts. Thanks for considering this request. As you continue to focus on prayer and self reflection during this season of Lent, consider that Jesus really never talked so much about rules and regulations, but more about loving God and loving your neighbor. Think about that! And if you do, you will see that when you love God and love others, everything else seems to line up in the right order, even to the point that chaos seems to calm down and the drama of life goes away. Another way we can show God our heart is to confess to God our love for Him. Confession is good for the soul, right? Well, I have a confession to make: I love a good cup of coffee in the morning.

3 3 of 6 2/22/2013 1:51 PM A Pleasing Aroma Each weekend we worship God through our singing, our prayers and our serving. We also come to worship each weekend to give back a portion of what God has given us, because it is one way in which we can show God our heart. Another way we can show God our heart is to confess to God our love for Him. Confession is good for the soul, right? Well, I have a confession to make: I love a good cup of coffee in the morning. Some people like Starbucks. Other people like Dunkin Donuts. You know, America runs on Dunkin. Are you a Folgers fan? The best part of waking up! They tell me true coffee snobs like single origin coffee. I don t think I fit into that category?. I just like a good cup of coffee. I am told a single origin coffee is where the coffee bean comes from one particular farm and is roasted to perfection, ground just before they were brewed with filtered water that came straight out of the deep aquifer. Do you know any of these people? One of my favorite things about coffee is the smell. I love the aroma of coffee in the morning. It smells so good. There is a verse in the Old Testament that talks about Noah building an altar and offering a sacrifice to God. The Bible says God smelled the pleasing aroma of Noah s sacrifice. In fact, a phrase like that is used 39 different times in the Old Testament. People would offer God a sacrifice on the altar and God would say it was a pleasing aroma. Maybe it made God happy the way the aroma of good coffee in the morning makes me happy. In the New Testament, the Apostle Paul used similar language to Christians living in the city of Philippi. In Philippians 4:8, Paul told the people that their financial gifts were a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God. I love the connection between the Old and New Testaments. I love that God looks at our financial gifts the same way he looks at Old Testament sacrifices. I love that our financial gifts can make God smile. Just something to think about as you come to worship each weekend. Be a fragrant offering, acceptable and pleasing to God. Discovery Group The Discovery Group will hold their monthly meeting on Thursday, March 7 at 11 a.m. in the Sanctuary. This month, we are blessed to have Jane Meek and Lane Vick share their "Living the Dream" trip touring Alaska with their daughters last summer. They will show and tell visits to Skagway, Juneau, Ketichkan and Anchorage. Highlights include a dog sled ride, whale watching and a scenic trail ride! Their presentation is sure to make you feel as if you were right there! Bring a bag lunch and a friend! Children s Home Campus Tour Saturday, March 16 in Enterprise, FL The church bus will leave the church at 8 a.m. and will return at approximately 4:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided during the tour. Life Line Screening will be in the Sanctuary on Tuesday, March 19. Life Line Screening uses only advanced colorflow ultrasound technology and experienced high skilled technologists. Screening results are provided within 21 days after physician review. Life line will offer Stroke/Carotid Artery Screening, Heart Rythem Screening (Atrial Fibrillation), Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening, Peripheral Arterial Disease screening and Osteoporosis Risk Assessment.
