1 Kentucky ChristianW omen Connection Where Every Woman has a Place, And Every Woman Takes Her Place Patsy Daugherty, President 250 Clay Lane, Richmond, KY Patsy.daugherty@eku.edu October 2018 Volume 2 Issue 5 Living Water this is indeed the Christ The story of the Woman at the Well, as so many of us call it, doesn t cease to amaze me. Oh, the power of His love and compassion to offer the Living Water to townspeople of rejects of His own race. The Samaritans followed the woman to Jacob s well to see if this was indeed the Christ of whom she was talking. When they found Him they were so captured by His words and deeds and they asked Him to stay longer. He did. And many more believed Him that He was the Savior of the World. John 4:39 42 (NKJV) 39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified, He told me all that I ever did. 40 So when the Samaritans had come to Him, they urged Him to stay with them; and He stayed there two days. 41 And many more believed because of His own word. 42 Then they said to the woman, Now we believe, not because of what you said, for we ourselves have heard Him and we know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world. Some believed because of the woman s testimony. Many more believed because of what they themselves had witnessed. Here is my thought this morning.... how many times is the Savior of the World working in our midst and we fail to see His work for what it is... a miracle. If I hadn t been thinking directly on this topic, I would have missed some of the following blessings and their connection to the Savior. In just the past few days only, I ve seen a father, son, and grandson reunited in their relationship; a brother survive a 40 fall, 88 years old, with a few broken things but declaring sweet Jesus ; a mother s baby born healthy; a minister who just recently survived brain surgery stand behind a young pastor in support as he was being ordained; new CWC ministries getting started; a lady surviving cancer and the treatments coming to the Connection Retreat in October; a calming (like ointment) of a family in constant bickering and quarreling; a teenager healed of cancer cells; healing of a lady with intense dizzy spells; young men and women entering ministry; a woman returning safely from the mission field to tell her stories of Jesus; my personal burden for an orphanage in Thailand being picked up by another who can take physical healing in her hands; God opening another door for sending dresses; and the list goes on. The point is, I believe Jesus to be the Savior of the World, indeed the Christ, because of what I hear Him say and see Him do in the lives around me and in me. Glory to His name. Now, you add what you see Jesus doing in the lives around you. May God bless you richly as you serve Him this month. And, again, I desire and seek your prayers for the Kentucky Christian Women Connection ministry, for local CWC ministries and for the ladies who continue to work so hard. Pray

2 specifically again this month for the Holy Spirit s anointing on each of us and that we exercise the gift of praise and thanksgiving. Blessings to you as you serve the One who gives all. Patsy John 4:10 (NLT) 10 Jesus replied, If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water. ========================================================================== Kentucky State Project Puerto Rico Ministries Disaster Relief Fund The Kentucky CWC State Project for is Puerto Rico Ministries Disaster Relief from hurricane Maria in the amount of $4,000. Homes and churches were damaged. Electricity and water supplies were damaged. Puerto Rico Ministries is assisting families and churches with repairs and special needs. ========================================================================= Stamp Collecting We are changing the way we collect stamps. These will be collected from you twice a year; once in the Spring at the Convention and once in the Fall at the Connection Retreat. Then the KY CWC will mail them directly to Japan. So bring your stamps to Retreat (October) and Convention (April). Here are the guidelines for collecting the stamps. Nobuko said that funds raised through the stamp collecting project continue to meet the medical needs of many people in developing countries in Asia. Mrs. Ito will be delighted to receive stamps directly from the Kentucky CWC women. She said you do a marvelous job sending stamps that are neatly cut with a 1/4 inch margin around them. Thank you! 2

3 News Updates Christian Women Connection October is here already. The Kentucky Christian Women Connection Retreat is almost here too! Get your Registration in ASAP! The days are October at Camp Lyons, Four Seasons. I am including a Registration form with this newsletter. On September 8 I met with some ladies in Louisville who represented the three Church of God congregations there. We talked about how they can get involved with CWC and form a group or groups in Louisville. Such incredible women who want to serve the Lord in the best way possible. The Ashland Area CWC Prayer Retreat was held at Shawnee FCOG this year. They paid an outstanding tribute to Sis. Mabel Johnson and her work in ministry. Six churches were represented and 41 in attendance. The Frenchburg FCOG Prayer Retreat was Sept 13. It was wonderful to meet these ladies and share a meal with them (oh my, what good cooks!). My heart is encouraged when I witness the work of the Kingdom. We all are important and we all can contribute and use our gifts for Him. Just like we say, a place for every woman where every woman takes her place. I have heard from Sis Judith Neal in New Mexico. She has returned from the Uganda mission trip. 147 dresses from Kentucky were delivered and they all are being worn. Here is a quote from her letter and for those receiving this electronically, the entire letter is attached. The faces of children beamed as we were able to give out handmade dolls and handmade baby/girls dresses where ever we served. These were made by groups of women in Albuquerque and in Kentucky. Many volunteers sacrificed (hours, monetarily, sore fingers, etc.) to thrill these children and their moms. Thank you to all these wonderful women and their families. September events concluded at Stanton FCOG at the Kentucky Church of God Ministries General Assembly. The oral CWC report included 551 members in Kentucky CWC (this is about a 30% increase over the previous year), and three (3) new CWC ministries. The total amount for the state project was $4, donated to Cumberland Mountain Outreach. The Friday night auction at the 2018 state convention brought in approximately $1, to go for Youth Scholarships and state promotion to Kentucky Ministries. Mission kits and donated items were given to the Hope Hill Youth Center, Hope KY. Kentucky CWC Christ Birthday Offering for 2017 reported in 2018 was $61, (03/30/18) and was donated from 41 churches in Kentucky. à If you would like a copy of the complete written report to the KY COG General Assembly, please let Patsy know. 3

4 Rev. Bob Russell was the guest speaker at the General Assembly. Seven (7) new ministers were ordained and one (1) minister transferred to Church of God. It was a wonderful day in the Lord. Thank you to the Stanton FCOG for hosting this event. For those of you who prayed for these events in September, thank you very much. I try to keep the pages down and color to a minimum so the newsletter will be easy for you to duplicate.
