1 October 1, 2017 Protection of the Theotokos From the Desk of the Pastor Dear Friends in Christ: Gary is at a banquet and keeps complaining that his false teeth are hurting him. The guy sitting to his left reaches into his pocket and pulls out a set of dentures. He hands them to Harry and says, "Try these." Gary tries them, and says, "Thanks anyway, but they're too tight." The guy pulls out another set and hands them to Gary. They fit perfectly, so Gary wears them for the entire night. At the end of the banquet, Gary hands them back to the guy and says, "They fit me perfectly. Are you a dentist?" The guy says, "No, I'm an undertaker." We have a couple banquets coming up, but I assure you both of them will have nothing to do with dentures or undertakers. Instead, both banquets have to do with the letter G and both have to do with time. The first banquet relates to gratitude and concerns that beloved son of Holy Trinity, Bishop Robert Moskal, who will be celebrating 80 years of life very shortly. We wish to host him here in this nest which gave him wings, to express our gratitude to God for giving him life and his episcopal vocation and we will look back upon the eighty years of his life up till today. Please see the enclosed information in the bulletin and plan on attending, here on Oct. 29 th. The second banquet we greatly anticipate will be Nov.12 th with our beloved Bishop Bohdan Danylo at 2900 Noblestown Rd, East Carnegie at St. Paul Seminary. The letter G for this event refers to giving and it looks not to the past but to the future. Our church is growing in the southern States and holds much promise, especially with new converts who love our Ukrainian Catholic traditions. I know this is true because I was pastor at our mission parish in Raleigh, NC for two years. Our Bishop is not one to simply wish them well. He wants to be active in helping them grow, and that means paying for start up costs, as you would for a child. Once that child is old enough to work, then they can make their own way in life. So, too, with parish. These mission parishes need help and I m proud to say that my wife and I will gladly pay the ticket fee in order to help our Eparchy grow. It s an investment in tomorrow. I look forward to seeing you there as well. See information in the following pages. May God bless you as you express your gratitude and giving, for all God s blessings both yesterday and tomorrow. In Christ, Jason, priest and sinner

The Church continues the apostolic mission in the transmission of God's Revelation. She is called to preach and to interpret it. To fill this, Christ gave his Church the Holy Spirit, who leads her into all truth (see Jn 16:13). The Church transmits God's Revelation in two ways: orally - by the apostles who, by their oral preaching, by example, and by observances handed on what they had received from the lips of Christ, from living with him, and from what he did, or what they had learned through the prompting of the Holy Spirit; and in writing - by those apostles and apostolic men who under the inspiration of the same Holy Spirit committed the message of salvation to writing.
