We might think, Great in theory, but not always realistic! Then Jesus in today s Gospel goes even further. Take a slap in the face and then turn the other cheek? Treat enemies the same as friends? Again, we re tempted to think that those are nice ideals, but not very practical in the real world. Paul echoes Jesus when he tells the Corinthians that what passes for human wisdom is absurdity to God. Divine wisdom casts sunshine on the good and the bad, showers rain on the honest and the dishonest without distinction. Soup Bowl Sunday Collection Thanks to the generosity of Assumption parishioners and the efforts of our Confirmation students, Soup Bowl Sunday was very successful. Students collected $427 which will be donated to the Manchester Area Council of Churches (MACC). Thank you to all who donated to this worthy collection. Welcome Deacon LaRocque It is with great pleasure that Father Pahl announces that, effective February 14, Deacon Lee LaRocque will become a permanent deacon at Church of the Assumption. With over thirty years experience, Deacon LaRocque will be a wonderful addition to Assumption Church. Deacon LaRocque and his family have been long-time parishioners at Assumption and some of you may remember he served as deacon here several years ago. Please welcome Deacon LaRocque as he begins his new assignment here at Church of the Assumption.
