Were you married in the Catholic Church?

If you were remarried outside the Catholic Church, you can participate in all aspects of parish life, just not receive communion or be a communion minister.

And annulments do not make your children illegitimate: those rules are governed by the State, not the Church. And the State doesn t care what Church procedures you ve done.

If your first marriage was done by a justice of the peace and both of you were Catholic, you automatically qualify.

Good news: Starting the second weekend of every month, we ll now have a special blessing at the end of Mass if you were married in the Catholic Church and your anniversary is that month. If you were remarried outside the Catholic Church, you can participate in all aspects of parish life, just not receive communion or be a communion minister. Please call me if your remarriage was not blessed in the Catholic Church; you may very well qualify for an annulment and blessed marriage. And annulments do not make your children illegitimate: those rules are governed by the State, not the Church. And the State doesn t care what Church procedures you ve done. An annulment means there was something missing in your marriage preparation, or in your consent, so you may remarry with the Church s blessing. AMAZING PARISH UPDATE We re continuing our work on the Grounds (and expect too for the next couple months). A survey with the Coffee & Doughnuts crowd reveals that keeping the weeds down, particularly in front of the school, are the priority. Half of the members for our Grounds Committee have been selected as of this writing; it should be fully formed by the time you read this. Prayer for Civic Leaders God our Father, You guide everything in wisdom and love. Accept the prayers we offer for our nation. In your goodness, watch over those in authority so that people everywhere may enjoy freedom, security and peace. We ask this through Christ our Lord. The author is Marina Cunin Borer, PhD. She generously donated these. They will be available in the Narthex on July 4th at the 7:30 a.m. Word Communion Service and on the following weekend, July 7/8 if copies remain.
