Call Mary Kay Alleman at with any questions. Let s Be Friends! Friends are an important part of all our lives. They build us up and make us laugh. They help us when we need it. Sometimes they even show us where we could be better. Join Life Teen for an exploration of the connection between faith and friendship on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. Come at 5:00 p.m. to join us for Life Teen Mass, featuring contemporary music by our Life Teen Band. For more information, contact Liz Heckman at eheckman@hbgdiocese.org or Looking Ahead With Life Teen We will conclude our series on sacred Scripture with Triumphant Light: A Life Night on Jesus in Sacred Scripture will be on Sunday, October 22, at 6:00 p.m. Life Teen Needs Your Help Are you a lector, altar server, Eucharistic Minister, usher, or musician? Would you like to be? If you answered yes to either of these questions, Life Teen needs your help. We are looking for teens and adults to serve in any of these capacities at our Life Teen Mass. Training is available for any of these positions. For more information, contact Liz Heckman at eheckman@hbgdiocese.org or Good Shepherd Respect Life Committee Panel Discussion The Good Shepherd Respect Life Committee invites you to join us on Tuesday, October 17, at 7:00 p.m., in Parish Hall A, for a panel discussion on the moral, medical, and legal considerations that arise in the final stages of life. What options does a patient have for end of life care? How does the law provide for advance planning of end of life care? What does the Church teach about discontinuing medical treatment? Learn the answers to these questions and more from our panel of speakers including Fr. Paul Schenck from the Diocese of Harrisburg. MASS WITH THE SACRAMENT OF THE ANOINTING OF THE SICK will be celebrated on Saturday, October 21, at 10:00 a.m., at Good Shepherd Church. People wishing to receive the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick are invited to this special Mass. Families and friends are also welcome to attend. A luncheon will follow. Transportation will be provided for those who need it and there will be people at church, including medical personnel, to provide assistance if needed. Those who wish to be anointed (or a relative or friend) are asked to call the Parish Office at , before October 18. Who can be anointed? Anyone who has a serious or chronic illness, is infirm due to old age, is scheduled to undergo surgery, and those suffering from mental disorders may be anointed. If I was anointed before, can I be anointed again? If a new illness has developed or there has been a relapse during the same illness, a person can be anointed again. Do you have to be a certain age to be anointed? Any baptized Catholic, who has sufficient use of reason, can be anointed. Is this the sacrament that was referred to as Extreme Unction or the Last Rites? Yes it is, however, since the Second Vatican Council the emphasis of this sacrament is the healing of the mind, body and spirit of persons and is not reserved only for the dying. WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU!

It would be nice to have a few more people help so they can have a week off here and there! It really is easy. The volunteers would get a gift card or cash from the DRE, shop for the snack, set up the snack, serve the snack and clean up afterwards (some weeks the snack will be donated and shopping will not be necessary). The snacks provided should be individually wrapped without nuts and small 8 oz. bottles of water. To sign up for this please contact Dr. Spahr at or aspahr@gsschpa.org Please consider donating snacks for our new Edge Program. Snacks are provided for 120 students on Monday nights weekly.
