1 Joplin Church of the Nazarene District HIGHLIGHTS Spring I am convinced that Prayer is the most powerful tool we have in the Church. I am convinced that we do not do enough praying. I am convinced that prayer moves the heart of God and when His heart is moved, He then moves in response to our cries. So if all that is true, what keeps us from being a praying people, is it our schedules, or our surroundings, or our jobs, or maybe just maybe it is our hearts? Maybe we really don t believe in the power of prayer. I am asking you to raise the bar on your prayers. I am asking you to fast at least once a week. I am asking Pastors to make sure they are having a time of corporate prayer where they intercede for their church and the lost. I am asking for prayer meetings to spring up all over our district until we see the manifested glory of God on all of our lives and on our Churches. We need His glory!!! So, when will you begin? Why not this month, why not intercede for your church, your lost family members, intercede for your laypeople or intercede for your Pastor? Why not start no? September 10,11,12 we will be having a Prayer Awakening tour with Cory Jones. September 10 will be at Springfield One Life; September 11 will be at Carthage; and September 12 at Parsons. Each service will begin at 7:00 pm. We believe that what God planted in our hearts during the ministry retreat, He longs to continue and to increase. I look forward to experiencing what God has for us Convention and Assembly could be the continuation of a movement of God that we have longed for deep in our hearts. I close with Leonard Ravenhill s words: Oh, to pray so as to be known in Hell! Oh, to pray so that demons will have to surrender their territory! Oh, to cause pandemonium in the darkness of hell when we intercede! Oh, to liberate the captives when we make intercessions with tears! Oh, to push the devil around instead of him pushing the Church around! Oh, to groan in prayer until the Holy Spirit becomes the announcer of our hearts. In His Service, Rev. Phil Rhoades
