5 Disaster District Coordinator Is established as the focal point to assess and coordinate local government requests for state and federal assistance before, during, and after any major emergency or disaster
6 Step One Local jurisdictions should use their own resources and mutual aid agreements before turning to the state for assistance Refugio Nueces McMullen San Patricio Kleberg Aransas Mutual Aid Agreements Kenedy Bee Live Oak Brooks Duval
7 Step Two If local resources are exhausted they may turn to the Disaster District Committee for assistance Local Gov makes Request to DDC State Agency fills Request with Appropriate asset DDC made up of State Agencies and Overseen by TXDPS
8 What do we take Requests From? Chief Elected Officials The CEO is the ultimate person in charge and bears the final responsibility for actions taken JUDGES MAYORS EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT COORDINATORS
9 DDC Composition The DDC is composed of state agency field representatives from the same state agencies that are members of the State Emergency Management Council at Headquarters Austin.
10 State Agency Participants
11 Representative Responsibilities Each member of the DDC is the single point of contact within the DDC for their respective state agency, and, as such, represents that particular agency for all emergency management matters. Each member has the responsibility to coordinate emergency management actions, as appropriate among the various functional elements within their agency.
12 If the DDC can not fill the request then it will be forwarded on to the State Operations Center to the State Emergency Management Council Step 3
13 If the State Emergency Management Council can not fill the request then they will turn to the Federal Government for support Step 4
