Swenson Minerals Offering Where: Garza, Kent, Dickens, Crosby, King, Motley, Cottle, Throckmorton, Baylor, Jones, Haskell, and Stonewall Counties in west Texas Acreage: over 190,000 acres Executive: Single Executive Rights holders Surface: Cooperative Surface Owners Geological Formations: Permian Basin, Strawn Caddo, Mississipian, Ellenburger, Matador Arch Webpage:
History: The S.M. Swenson family, with a long history in Texas ranching, has over 300,000 acres of mineral rights; mostly in west Texas. Recently, we have organized our holdings in an effort to market the un leased minerals, approximately 196,000 acres, with the intent to lease them. The majority of this acreage is in large ranch tracts with a single executive rights holder. For the non ranch tracts, we have an attorneyin fact who represents all family mineral holders. For ease, we have created a website, swensonminerals.com, which has digital maps, history and ownership information. The S.M. Swenson family history in Texas dates back to the 1840 s, when Swante Magnus Swenson, one of the first Swedes in Texas, began building his landholdings. Swenson purchased railroad scrip during the Civil War era. His sons, EP and SA, started the family cattle business and expanded their father s land holdings, purchasing additional tracts of land. They were instrumental in purchasing the Spur Ranch, comprised of over 400,000 acres in Dickens, Garza, Kent and Crosby counties. Current Swenson family members own minerals under four large cattle ranches, and under the Swenson portion of the former Spur Ranch acreage. We are working to market our collective mineral holdings for the maximum benefit of the Swenson Minerals Group. The following paragraphs describe these holdings:
Spur and Misc. Minerals These minerals are located in Garza, Kent, Dickens and Crosby counties and comprise a total of 64,825 acres. One contiguous tract is 52,825 acres in Garza, Kent and Crosby Counties. The remaining 12,000 acres are in Dickens county at the old Spur HQ ranch. Current surface ownership is not in the Swenson family. Executive leasing rights to the Spur HQ minerals are owned by Mr. Randy Andrews of Lubbock, Texas. Many Swenson family members have mineral ownership in addition to Mr. Andrews. The remaining Spur minerals are located in Garza, Kent and Crosby counties. The Swensons enjoy, in most instances, an approximate 80% executive leasing right ownership (and equal mineral ownership). Mr. Royce Walker of Abilene, Texas, has authority to sign for all Swenson family members as attorney in fact. Currently, approximately 14,000 acres are leased. Spur and Garza minerals are located on the right side of the Eastern Shelf (Permian Basin) and have current production from the Ellenburger horizon.
Tongue River Ranch Tongue River Ranch is located in King, Cottle, Motley and Dickens counties and comprises approximately 77,000 un leased acres (79,000 total acres). Mr. David Clark of Breckenridge, Texas has executive leasing rights and 12.5% mineral right ownership. Mr. Millard Morris of New Orleans, La. owns the surface. Swenson family members, through ranch partnerships, have the remaining 87.5% mineral ownership. Primary geological formations are: Permian Basin, Matador Arch and Ft. Worth Basin.
Throckmorton Ranches There are four ranches that comprise the Swenson mineral holdings in the Throckmorton area: McKnight Ranch, Clark Ranch, Texas A & M, and Mormon Church land. The Swenson family, through ranch partnerships, owns a majority of the mineral rights under these lands (Throckmorton, Haskell and Baylor counties). The McKnight Ranch is currently leased (31,594 acres) and has many producing wells, both vertical and horizontal. Mr. Ross McKnight, Throckmorton, Texas, has the executive leasing rights and surface ownership. The Clark Ranch (45,128 acres, 28,411 acres un leased) also has many producing wells, both vertical and horizontal. Mr. David Clark, Breckenridge, Texas, has executive leasing rights and surface ownership. Texas A & M Ranch (13, 379 acres) is currently leased. Swenson Land & Cattle Company, under Mr. Steve Swenson, Dallas Texas, is the executive rights holder and surface owner. Carey Family /Mormon Church Ranch Bill Carey, Mad River Glen, VT, is the executive rights lease holder to the Mormon Church land, which comprises 14,542 un leased acres. The Mormon Church is the surface owner. Primary Geological Formation: Swenson Caddo (Strawn) and Mississippian.
Flat Top Ranch Flat Top Ranch, 33,172 acres, is in Stonewall, Haskell and Jones counties, and is fully leased to Devon Energy. Swenson Land & Cattle Company, under Steve Swenson, Dallas, Texas, has executive leasing rights and also owns the surface. There are several producing wells on the ranch, both vertical and horizontal wells. Primary Geological Formation: Mississippian and Caddo. In addition to the aforementioned areas, Swenson Mineral Group owns ranch partnership minerals abutting the Spur/Garza minerals (approximately 3,279 acres) and the Tongue River Ranch (approximately 7,727 acres). As well, there are another 1,814 acres in the Flat Top Ranch area. Another category of Swenson mineral ownership is Texas and Sundry Business (T &SB), which comprises 12,050 acres spread throughout the state of Texas.
