2 LEADING LEARNING LINKS - The Best of the Best! Our final week of the half term has been an excellent half term across our Federation and children have enjoyed and engaged very well with their learning. There have been lots of wonderful extra-curricular and vibrant opportunities for learning in different ways and it has made our schools feel happy and purposeful. It is with a great deal of disappointment, but with full understanding, that we accept Mrs Coxon s resignation to leave All Saints at Christmas. She is torn and saddened to leave our beautiful school and has given 17 years dedication, passion and hard work to our children and families and has enabled an excellent start to the learning journey of each and every EYFS child who has come through All Saints in that period of time. Additionally, she was a huge part of the PTA when her children attended and is an active member of our community. Her leaving will be a great loss to our school and we wish her every happiness for the future. Governors enjoyed their meeting on Monday reviewing finance and staffing. They reiterate a huge thank you to Mrs Coxon for her hard work and dedication. We thank Mrs Tye for attending the meeting regarding the road closure last Saturday, she offers the following information:- The meeting was well attended by the parishioners of Tatenhill and Rangemore and was led by John Fawn, Michael Fabricant (MP) also attended and the key areas of his focus are; discussions are on-going with Satellite Navigation providers to provide updates to avoid heavy traffic through the villages, weight and speed restrictions through the village roads. The above are ongoing discussions with the County and a further meeting is to be arranged between Michael Fabricant and the Parish Council with the County regarding the disappointing process of the new Secondary School. Thank you to our families for their collection of clothes etc for Star foundation. The children had a lovely time learning martial arts. Our PTA AGM was well attended and purposeful and we thank everyone for their time and passion for our school. We welcome new members and appreciate the commitment of the PTA team listed in the PTA section. Lots of exciting things are booked and we look forward to our next event, the disco! Holy communion was beautiful where our 5 pupils took bread and wine. We were joined by parents and Arthur read out some scripture. Last Friday Class 3 were excited to travel over to our Federation friends at Needwood. Both schools have been studying topics on Ancient Egypt in History and in English and were looking forward to sharing our learning through a collective theme day. Many of us dressed up in Egyptian costumes and created some Ancient Egyptian art work in the form of cartouches. We also worked through maths problems by building our own pyramids and even had an Egyptian treasure hunt in which we had to crack the code written in hieroglyphics. We all had so much fun and look forward to another shared day of learning soon. Our football cup matches on Monday, Needwood against John of Rolleston and All Saints against Rykneld, were excellent. Even though Rykneld is a much larger school the boys were undeterred and kicked off confident for a positive result. Rangemore started the match well and grew in confidence as the first half wore on. Unfortunately Rangemore went one goal behind, but they did not let their heads drop. We were soon rewarded with an equaliser. Drawing at half time the team ploughed on against some strong play from Rykneld, who scored again and from this followed a short period of domination by the home side. Digging deep, Rangemore deservedly drew level, and so we headed into extra time. Three minutes each way and Rangemore were having the majority of goal scoring opportunities. Cruelly in the last minute of extra time Rykneld got a lucky break to which they were able to hold on for the last minute. A super effort.
3 Don t forget, All Saints Church s jumble sale held in All Saints school on Saturday 22 nd from until Staff look forward to our varied INSET day which ranges from spelling and grammar training to maths mastery and then we look forward to seeing you all again, raring to go after half term. We are excited about our preparation for All Saints day on 1 st November by making soul cakes, flags and halos, and for the beautiful festival we have planned on 1 st November from 9.15am in church. Everyone is warmly welcome for this special occasion.. We hope that you manage to have some family time at half term and that children rest up, maintaining reading and homework, to keep momentum ready for the next half term run to Christmas! Stay safe, have fun! Mrs C Gethin. CLASS 1 CLASS 2 CLASS 3 CLASS 4 Learning about martial arts with the Star Foundation. Making apple crumble with Mrs Coxon. Investigating 2D shapes in maths. Creating characters and writing character descriptions. Our shared day of Egyptian learning at Needwood. Making 3D shapes in maths with straws. Finding out the ending to the London Eye Mystery and producing some amazing writing in response. Learning martial arts with the Star Foundation. LACHES WOOD PRESENTATION - FRIDAY 4TH NOVEMBER The first Friday back after half term, there will be a Laches Wood presentation by Class 4. All parents are welcome. RECRUITMENT Due to the resignation of Mrs Coxon outlined above, we are therefore recruiting so if you know of any excellent teaching assistants who might be interested please do point them in the direction of the school office and WM jobs over the half term and beyond. Thank you. Your latest Smart Alert. Staffordshire Police wish to reassure everyone, of the Force s determination to deal with individuals who are intent on acting in an anti-social manner and will act swiftly and proportionately to the increasing number of reported incidents. We are also aware of significant social media activity that is fuelling this so called 'killer clown' craze. Please encourage your family and friends to stop liking and sharing any Facebook pages that publicise the unwarranted clown antics and any planned activities. Every time these sites are shared or liked, it encourages more people to become involved in this unwanted and unacceptable activity. Chief Superintendent Martin Evans of Staffordshire Police said "While some might view the current craze of inappropriate incidents involving clowns as funny, unfortunately some people are using it as an opportunity to threaten and intimidate others including children. This is certainly not acceptable and is something that will not be tolerated. I need to make it clear that this is not Staffordshire Police wanting to stop people having fun but rather us wanting to protect our communities from those who have sought to use this craze as an opportunity to threaten and intimidate people. SAMARITAN S PURSE - SHOE BOX APPEAL We are once again collecting filled shoe boxes for the Samaritan s Purse appeal. A leaflet will be sent home with full details and the minimum donation this year is All shoeboxes are to be returned to school by Thursday 17th November.
