16 Joyce A. Victor Biography Joyce was born in Des Moines, Iowa, but spent most of her early life with younger siblings Jim and Janet in Ashland, Nebraska. Joyce met her husband Tim while working a summer job at a truck stop. It was love at first sight. That was 41 years ago this November. After being employed as a medical technologist for a number of years, Joyce now works alongside Tim in their familyowned computer retail store. They have one daughter, Katie, who is married to Matt Green. In March 2013 their granddaughter, Marissa Jo, was born and in June 2015 her sister Arianna Elizabeth arrived, bringing them two wonderful granddaughters. In 1974 she was initiated into Chapter BD in Ashland during her mother s tenure as chapter president. Although her mother entered Chapter Eternal in 1993, their P.E.O. legacy continues through her sister, sister-in-law, niece and daughter. Joyce has also been a member of Chapter K and a charter member of Chapter HW. After moving to Grand Island, she transferred to Chapter HJ. She has been blessed with many opportunities and privileges as a P.E.O. sister. One of her most cherished experiences is serving as a teller at the 1991 Convention of International Chapter in Omaha. In 1996 the Nebraska State Chapter Board asked Joyce to assist in the development of a Standing Committee for Unaffiliated Members. She served as chairman from the committee s inception until In 2002 she was a member of an ad hoc committee that recommended the formation of a Nebraska State Membership Committee; Joyce is the current chairman. After serving as chairman of the state convention, she accepted a position on the Nebraska State Executive Board. The theme of the 2012 State Convention at which she presided was Playing the Keys of P.E.O. She is currently on the State Membership Committee, has served as a personal page for Past International President Susan Sellers at Convention of International Chapter in Vancouver, British Columbia and feels blessed to be a close friend of Past International President Joyce Goff. She accepted a five-year term on the P.E.O. Educational Loan Fund Board of Trustees in Joyce finds the experience to be very inspiring and describes the dreams and aspirations of candidates as being awesome. She enjoys the friendships she is making as a part of the International Leadership Team and looks forward to sharing more about ELF. In her free time Joyce loves to play the piano, do needlework, read and travel. She has accompanied church choirs for a number of years and, along with Tim, has participated in Worldwide Marriage Encounter and Engaged Encounter weekends since She looks forward to more travel when they retire. In the meantime, Joyce is happy doing lots for P.E.O., working in the family business, and spoiling their granddaughters. 13
17 SONG LYRICS FOR P.E.O. CONVENTION 2016 O Canada O Canada! Our home and native land! True patriot love in all thy sons command. With glowing hearts we see thee rise, The True North strong and free! From far and wide, O Canada, We stand on guard for thee. God keep our land glorious and free! O Canada, we stand on guard for thee. O Canada, we stand on guard for thee. Star Spangled Banner O say can you see by the dawn s early light, What so proudly we hailed at the twilight s last gleaming, Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight, O er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming? And the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there; O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave, O er the land of the free and the home of the brave? P.E.O. Grace We give thee thanks dear Lord above, For food and health and all thy love. Grant that our sisterhood may grow, Look down and bless our P.E.O. 14
