1 Fisherman May, 2005 President s Letter Therefore if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation. The old has gone; the new has come. II. Corinthians 5:17 Spring is a wonderful time of the year to view God s creations. As Judi and I drove to Atlanta a couple weeks ago, we saw the transformation from stark trees to beautiful blossoms and lush green trees a new beginning for every living thing. Our community witnessed a new beginning (4 th day) for 33 new pescadores. The team was blessed as they watched the metamorphosis of these women from Thursday evening to Sunday afternoon; their countenance shone at the closing. Those of us community members who worked behind the scenes for the weekend were blessed, another fresh experience in our 4 th day. Spring is also a time for us to renew our thoughts about who we are in Christ. Jesus has made us a new creation and our old self is gone. For that blessing we have much to be grateful. How can we thank God for ALL that He has done for us? We can bless others. Our community will be stretched this fall as we will hold 2 weekends within 3 weeks of each other. Community support will be critical. The teams have been selected, but approximately 140 behind the scenes pescadores are needed to support the teams. What gift has God given you that can be used on the weekend? Remember how you were blessed on our weekend, now you can bless others. Find a way to serve (big or small) where you can thank God for His grace in your life. Our last Secuela before summer break is on May 20 th at Highland Sixth. We will be commissioning two teams for the fall weekends. This back-toback men s and women s weekend will provide us a unique opportunity to invite couples to a Tres Dias weekend, where each spouse can experience a weekend within 2 weeks of each other. 2 SOUNDS OF SECRETARIAT (April 26 th ) Diane Hrubik presented the critique for W #12 Vern Hartenburg will be Rector for Men s #14 Deane Elek will be Rectora for Women s #13 Announced that Women s #14 weekend will be held March 30 April 2, 2006 at St Joe s Pointed out that we need major financial contributions from the community to support the two October weekends Heard a report from the communications focus group with suggestions for improvements for the newsletter, sponsorship responsibility, and reunion groups The nominating committee is still working to secure a slate of officers for the election to be held at the May 20 secuela Announced that Monica Leibacher will temporarily take over maintenance of the Tres Dias directory and electronic transmission of the newsletter and special communications to the community (to free up Deane Elek for her work as Rectora) Announced that a Tres Dias Training Workshop will be held Sat Aug 6 at the Cleveland Zoo (see details elsewhere in newsletter). Team members for the Oct weekends will be encouraged to attend. Also anyone interested in serving on team during the next 24 months should plan to attend. The 26 th annual Tres Dias International Assembly will be held July 8-10, From the Apr 22 special Secretariat meeting: Approved the proposed By-Laws change which changed the 2 year term of the VP to a 1 year term as VP followed by a 1 year term as President; the VP will automatically succeed to the office of President for the second year of his term. She had been at Fairview Hospital for observation. Ann Biery (W#1) saw Julie on April 12 and said she saw the ultrasound and the baby "is too cute...smiling and her nose squished up against mom! Pray for a healing placenta and no more contractions! (Julie was a Table Leader & Rollista on the Women's #12 weekend.) Pray for the nominating committee as they seek to fill the positions of Vice President, Treasurer, and Outreach Chair: Chris Garrity, Lisa Pringle, Brian Holsinger, Herb Leibacher, and Monica Leibacher. The mother of Elizabeth Burton (W#9), Caroline, died April 6th after being hospitalized for 10 days. She will leave a great void in many people's lives, and was a precious Christian. In addition to being Elizabeth's mother, Caroline was the housemate of Barb Jackson (W#9), and she was the prayer partner, mentor, and dear friend of Judi Crytzer (W#8) for the past 34 years. Our condolences to her family. DONATIONS Remember that Tres Dias Cleveland is a 501C(3) organization so contributions to Tres Dias may be tax deductible. Enjoy a free day at the Zoo, plus attend an official Tres Dias Workshop. You will learn about The Essentials of Tres Dias, as well as TD Cleveland specific procedures, such as serving on team and weekend committees, sponsoring a candidate and joining a reunion group. The Workshop will take place in the Windows on the World Room. Seating is limited to the first 80 Pescadores to RSVP to Pam Belknap ( ) or pbelknap@ameritech.net. 4 RECTORA S LETTER God is Good - All the time! God faithfully met us and demonstrated His love for us all, team and candidates, on Women s #12. He touched hearts and changed lives. God in many ways did this directly, but most often He demonstrated His love to us through the body of Christ, His church, and the Tres Dias Community. I can not express how grateful I am for this Tres Dias Cleveland Community for stepping up and saying YES to make this all possible. I just want to say thank you, thank you for all the prayers, support, creative hands, strong arms, words of affirmation, thoughtful planning and physical presence of each and every person who took part in this weekend. May God bless each one of you for your servant hearts and willing hands in the work to further His Kingdom through this ministry of Tres Dias.
