More importantly, we don t know what has occurred in their lives before they come to us. The story written below was given by a young woman who came in to see us just a few years ago In February of 2008, I sat alone in my bathroom staring at a positive pregnancy test and wondering how in the world I would ever tell my single dad that I had let him down. I was raised in church, and had always planned on remaining pure until marriage but now I faced this challenge after walking away from God years ago. I let go of my faith in high school and fell into a lifestyle of partying and drinking. After dropping out of college, I moved to another state and started an affair with a man from work. Now, I was pregnant. What made me even sicker than my pregnancy nausea was the thought of wondering how everyone would react. I kept telling myself, I m not very far along. It can t be a baby yet. I ll just get an abortion and no one will ever know. I came into the Pregnancy Center full of shame and darkness. Convinced I d committed the unforgivable sin, I agreed to an Ultrasound and much to my shock, at 5 weeks, 5 days pregnant, I heard a heartbeat! I had come to a fork in the road in my life and I had a very big choice to make. God was making it abundantly clear that I was carrying a life. I could not go through with an abortion. It was very hard to tell my dad but he was more forgiving than I had hoped. The reaction of some at my home church was not always so kind. I did feel judgment from some people when they learned of my pregnancy. I felt ashamed at times when I knew people were looking for a wedding ring on my finger. I enrolled in parenting classes at the Pregnancy Center and once a week, my peer counselor taught me how to be a mom. During my 15-week of classes at the Center, I went through 3 Bible studies. It was during that time that I felt a real healing take place in my spirit. There was no longer anything between me and God. He had forgiven me and I had forgiven myself. After my baby was born, I kept coming to the Pregnancy Center monthly to meet with my counselor. Not only did the Center provide me with everything I needed for my baby but they led me into a new place in Christ. God has done a new thing in my life. Most of the good things that happened through my birthing experience happened at Community Pregnancy Center. Now, my daughter is in kindergarten and we never miss church. My dad loves his granddaughter. I can t imagine not having her. Because of you, our precious donors, we were able to save this child s life and lead her mother out of the darkness in which she was drowning. 4 Water Main Break 2014 Update: The Pregnancy Center experienced a devastating water main break in our building due to the sub-zero temperatures we experienced during the second week of January of If you will recall, we had a similar occurrence in January of This time, the damage was more extensive and we were forced to close for 9 weeks during reconstruction. We sent our clients to our Warren County office. We have now returned to our new digs and all is well. Repairs have been made and we are up and running again but with a smaller inventory of infant items in our Care Closet.
