January Club Meeting, Tuesday, January 4 th, 6:00 pm This will be our In-Door-Fly-In and will be held at the LDS church on Walters Ave., Geistown. Refreshments will be served. Don't miss this Special Annual event! Flying Field Winterized! On Wednesday, October 27 t h Herb, Zane, Bill M., Fred, Bill R., Roger, Grant, and a few others worked to take down the tent canopy for winter storage. Bill Rosage has again agreed to store the tent for the winter. We also "wrapped" the port-a-john for the winter, and took down the windsock. So our field and port-a-john are ready for winter, are you? Veteran Club Member Caleb Butler Our "Member of the Month" for December is none other than one of our original club members from way back in 1962! Caleb Butler has been a member the whole time, and has been to, and flown on all our prior fields, and has also watched our hobby change over the years. Caleb has flown them all, and has served in many different capacities in our club, including club president. Caleb and his wife Paulene live near the Bethany United Methodist Church just off of Leventry Road. Cal is retired from 40 years or so working for Penelec in various engineering and planning jobs. Caleb has a large inventory of RC planes, and he says there are just too many to count! We thank Caleb for all the effort he has expended over the years to help make our club a success. Thanks Caleb!

2 Fall Flying Still Good! In the picture below left, the gang share a laugh prior to the evening meal on Sunday October 24 t h. In the picture above, Zane Kough shows his "Revolver" to Grant Moore, prior to a flight. Zane is one of the members of the Mulligan Hill Club that has used our field the most this past summer, since Mulligan Hill lost their flying field, and Zane has indicated that he plans to join our club for He's a darn good flyer too! Matt Tedrow and his "flying wing" Even though the tent canopy is now down and put away, flying has been good on many days. On Sunday, October 24 t h we probably had our last Hot Dog cookout for the year, and we had a pretty nice crowd. Above, Matt shows off his new electric flying wing which performed very well indeed. More Shots from the Tent Tear Down Day... It turned out we picked the best possible day to take down our tent canopy, since right after that day, it turned rainy, cold, and very windy. We used it for the last time for the Sunday Oct. 24 t h Hot Dog cookout!

3 Below left, Bill Rosage takes a breather since he had knee surgery a few weeks ago. His rehabilitation has not gone as quickly as he expected, so he has not been able to fly since the surgery. We want to thank Bill for allowing us to store the canopy and other equipment at his home until next spring, and wish him a speedy and complete recovery over the winter. Thanks Bill! Above, Roger and Herb tie up the pipe coverings and bungie connectors to be stored for another year. The field is still available for flying, even though the tent canopy is down! Our field has remained in great shape all summer long thanks to Don Hoffman's close attention!, Sam's Father Passes Away Who would believe our large tent canopy folds up to a package this small? It should serve us well for a couple more years. Bill Rosage takes a rest! As many of you already know, Sam's father, Joe, passed away in late October. Joe and his friend Ada, have visited our field many times over the years to watch Sam and all of us fly and to enjoy a hot dog! Let's keep Sam's family in our prayers over this loss.

4 November Meeting Recap Our November meeting was held on the first Wednesday this month, since our regular meeting was scheduled the night before, but it was election day, and our meeting room was used as one of the Richland Township Voting precincts. There was a good turnout, with about 20 members present. The nominations for next years club officers were limited to the present officers, so it looks like next months election will be sort of automatic. The highlight of the evening was the auction of a wide selection of RC equipment from the estate of Gene Gardner, a former club member who passed away some time ago. There was some heated bidding, and the club raised almost $300 as a result of the sales. Club members held a moment of silence for Sam's Father's passing. President Sam reminded the members to pay their club dues prior to January 15 t h to qualify for the discount, and to also pay their AMA dues, which many members have already done. I'd say! Now that the field is "winterized" we can still fly on nice days, so don't put your planes away for the winter just yet! It was reported that the port-a-john was "wraped" prior to the final pumpout, but the guys at the field thought it had been pumped, so what's there will have to wait until next spring for removal. Another high light of the evening was Paul showing some slides from prior years RC events. All the members seemed to enjoy the slides from years past. Matt's son Zack, proudly showed off his new small electric foam "Air Hog" Bipe during the "show-n-tell" session, and Bill Rosage won the 50/50. Don't forget, at next months meeting we will elect club officers for Club Dues... A club dues form is included at the end of this newsletter. Don't forget to use it before the end of the year to claim your $5 discount if paid prior to January 15 t h! January In-Door-Fly-In Again on the Calendar! Above, Frankie Iluzzi checks out his new Avastar trainer that he and his Dad purchased the night of the auction. Frankie, his Dad, and Roger, checked it out at the field the following Sunday, and it flew very well for not being run in a long long time. It had two successful flights on a cold and breezy Sunday afternoon. Roger took it up for a check flight to get things trimmed out, and then Frankie flew it and landed it. Frankie was able to obtain this ready to fly trainer plane complete with an engine, servos, and radio for only $50! Quite a buy After checking with Neil Woffinden, who just got back from a six month trip to Illinois, we have confirmed the date of Tuesday, January 4 t h for our annual In-DoorFly-In. This event has proven to be very popular and well attended. Even on bad snowy Jauuary evenings, we usually get a good turnout. The great food no-doubt has something to do with this I'm sure. Anyhow, for those who haven't made this event in the past, put this date on your calendar! We meet at 6pm, have a short business meeting, and then roll back the chairs and tables to eat, and then fly anything that will fly safely indoors! This includes wind-ups, small electrics, small electric helies, flying saucers, and even a "bird" and a "bee" have been spotted airborne! We all have a great night Wives and/or friends are welcome, so don't miss this one!
