The Revelation is a book that overwhelms us with hope - but is only accessible to us if we acknowledge our weakness, and that is awfully hard for us. We don't want to shed our facades, our pretentiousness. 3 CALL TO CONFESSION Prayer of Confession O my Savior, help me. I am slow to learn, prone to forget, and weak to climb; I am in the foothills when I should be on the heights; I am pained by my graceless heart, my prayerless days, my poverty of love, my sloth in the heavenly race, my sullied conscience, my wasted hours, my unspent opportunities. I am blind while the light shines around me: take the scales from my eyes, grind to dust my heart of unbelief. Knowing that you have been raised from the dead, I turn from my sins and receive you as Savior and Lord. Amen. Revelation 1: 5-6 CONGREGATIONAL LIFE Deacons Sunday Rescheduled. Today is our opportunity to give to the Mercy Fund. This fund helps our members and others in our community with practical needs. While this data collection is for administrative purposes only, it is also a great time for you to update your information in the online directory as well. The 2017 PCA General Assembly will be held in Greensboro this year June 12th through the 15th. There are many opportunities to serve by volunteering at the GA. All current 8th-12th graders and their parents are invited to attend an informational gathering after worship today, Sunday, January 22nd for the Summer 2017 mission trip. This will be a "stay-home" mission and vision project intended to help open our eyes, ears, hands, and hearts to our neighbors here in Winston-Salem. Lunch is provided. Please contact Ethan, esmith@hopechurchws.org if you will have any questions. Parents, please note that Kindergarten through 2nd grades will remain in the worship service today, Sunday, January 22nd. The Quarterly Worship Class for Kindergarten through 5th grades emphasizing Mission and Service will meet next Sunday, January 29th during the worship service. 6 We are expanding our recycling program at Hope! Several blue recycling bins have been added throughout the building, including classrooms, offices and kitchens. These bins will be emptied each Sunday by the Deacon in charge of set up. Please do your part to make sure that all items that can be recycled are placed in these bins. Folders are available for children in K-5th grades to use during worship. Please return them following the service.
