1 VOLUME 46 No. 8 February 24, 2016 Usborne and Kane Miller books are the most exciting, engaging, and educational books on the market today. They are high quality, innovative, lavishly-illustrated, and best of all, they are the books kids love to read. More than 30 years ago, Peter Usborne pioneered a new generation of books that prove that it is possible to create books that compete with the vast media that attracts children today. From activity books, to neat fiction series, to internet-linked science and history encyclopedias, Usborne does books better. On Wednesday, February 24 and Thursday, February 25, the FUMC Library in conjuction with FUMC Preschool will host a book fair in Wesley Hall presenting the Usborne Books. Orders can be placed all week at but our Usborne representative will also be available in Wesley Hall on Wednesday before ReFresh and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. to answer any questions. Lots of great samples will be on display during these times. Orders will ship free to the church and will arrive within two weeks. The benefits from the book fair will be rewards for free children s books for the FUMC library. Choose to give one of these books for Easter baskets! You will be glad you did!

2 LENTEN WORSHIP Lent for Everyone Wednesday Lenten worship services began last week and will conclude on March 16. Each Wednesday during Lent, we begin with our regular supper at 5:15 p.m. At 6:00 p.m. we begin worship in Wesley Hall. This time of worship is brief and casual, yet meaningful as we journey together toward Easter. As a connection to the Wednesday worship services, we also invite you to purchase the daily devotional study Lent for Everyone: Luke, Year C by N. T. Wright. The brief message brought on Wednesday night will draw from this book, which takes us through the Gospel of Luke. You may purchase a book from our Church Librarian, Jarie Thompson. The book is also available on Kindle or your e-reader of choice. Younger child care is available during the Lenten services. Older children are asked to join us in this brief worship service following dinner. There will be a 2016 Children's Council meeting on Sunday, February 28 at noon in Wesley Hall, Room A. 3 Tuesday, March p.m. in the CLC Kitchen Theme: Fantastic Easter Recipes Primetimers Movie Night February 25 6:00 P.M. in the CLC Call Kathryn at to reserve seat and a bag of popcorn! Our February movie is The Verdict, starring Paul Newman, Charlotte Rampling, Jack Warden, James Mason, Milo O Shea and Lindsay Crouse. This film was nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Actor in a Leading Role (Paul Newman). Sanctuary flowers are needed March 13 and April 3.
