William Clyde Darnell, 64, ' pastor \ of the Tabernacle ~ a I>t~ Church of Mebane, 'd~ea m-a Winston - Salem hospital last night at 8:10 o'clock following nine weeks of critical illness. A native of Laurens, S. C., Mr. Darnell was organizer of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in 1939 and had served as its pastor since that time. He was a son of the late Jesse and Mary Gillespie Darnell. Bertie Bishop Darnell of the,home; two daughters, Mrs. I Thomas C. Brewer of Durham and Mrs. Earl Moore of Mebane; a son, W. C. Darnell Jr. of Burlington; four sisters, Mrs. I Edgar Shuemaker of Greenwood ~ So C., Mrs. Dave Rogers and " Mrs. Jim Barrett, both of Laurens, and Mrs. Clinton Terry of Spartanburg, S. Pallbearers will be Melvin : Wilson, Raymond Frazier, Lon-. Die Workman, Wilbur Harris L. D. Moore and Nelson Wright Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Men's Bible Class of Tabernacle Baptist Church and all area ministers. The body will be taken from Walker's Funeral Home to the residence at 521 N. Charles St Ext. late this afternoon to remain until taken to the church to lie in state one hour prior to the service.
