2 Cross Talk Longform Newsletter for May 2018 Back-Issues Available at A Special Message from the Pastor s Desk It is hard to believe that May is here already. It seems like that can be said at the beginning of every month, but now that April Showers and tax season are over, we can look forward to May flowers, Cinco de Mayo, Mother s Day, and Memorial Day. We will also be adding a Rummage Sale to the calendar, just in case you have a weekend with nothing to do. I was very pleased with the attendance we had during Holy Week services, and April started out FANTASTIC with a wonderful turn-out for Easter morning. The Easter Season will continue until May 20, when we will celebrate the day of Pentecost. Traditionally, that is the day when we encourage everyone to wear red to symbolize the tongues of flame that appeared over the apostle s heads. All the mothers, and daughters are welcome to attend the luncheon being held on May 12. All ladies are welcome, because, no matter what age you are, you are still somebody s daughter. The program will be a talk on The History of the Cross, from ancient Egypt to contemporary good luck charms. Complete with a partial display of a collection of over 1,000 crosses. Of course, the month will conclude with Memorial Day, where we decorate the graves and remember all those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country. If you appreciate the fact that you live in a free country, THANK A VET. Their sacrifice was not free. All gave some, and some gave ALL. I am continuing to update the directory. My biggest obstacles have been the failure of people to respond to my card left in their door, and/or the failure to return my phone calls. I have received all kinds of responses of those I have met. In some cases, I have added several names to the shut-in list; crossed off some people who were never considered themselves members; some have died; others who have moved on to other churches, and still others who have just given up on going to church altogether. The last ones are the ones which concern me the most. I am a firm believer that Church is not a building you go to, but it is a family you belong to. If you have not heard from the church, it could be because you have changed you phone number and forgot to notify the office. Most of all, I would hope if you are ill, or have to go to the hospital, you MUST notify the church office (or me), otherwise we do not know. The hospital used to notify the churches as a service, but due to privacy issues, they are no long permitted to do so. Yours in Christ, Pr. Ken

12 Special Information If You Come Across an Angel by Douglas Pagels Every day in the world around us, real-life angels are doing the things they do...and bringing more smiles to the world around them. Real-life angels build bridges instead of walls. They don't play hide-and-seek with the truth, and they don't have hidden agendas. They tend to be the only ones who understand what you're going through. If they sense that you're hurting, they do whatever they can to help you. Real-life angels don't hold things against you; the only thing they hold...is you. They take your hand in theirs when you could use a little reassurance. They walk beside you when you could do with a little guidance and direction in your life. And they support you in your attempts to do what is right. Real-life angels understand difficulties and always give the benefit of the doubt. They don't hold others up to standards they can't live by themselves. Real-life angels are what inner beauty is all about. Real-life angels multiply your smiles and add to your integrity. They make you feel like, Hey I really am somebody who matters. Then they quietly prove to you how beautiful and true that feeling really is. If you come across an angel like this; you are one of the luckiest people of all. If someone in your life is wonderfully like an angel to you, it's important to let them know. It's the nicest compliment you could ever give...in all the days of your life and in all the years that you live.
