Gathering information. Shopping for ingredients. Trying new flavors. It s the anticipation of something changing in your life; you re going to lose weight! At the start of a new diet, there s a euphoric feeling that great things are just around the corner. Then, just a short while into it, that excitement dissipates. The tasty meals that you have looked forward to enjoying now seem as appealing as bread and water. You stare at the scale and think, Why doesn t it ever tell the truth? As B.B. King said, The thrill is gone. And now you have a decision to make: keep on going or give up. So it is with the Christian journey. At first there is such excitement and enthusiasm about this new life. Everything is vibrant and alive. Then, just a little while into it you lose steam. Your spiritual well seems to have run dry. At this point, you have a choice to make, but it is not about going on OR giving up. We must discipline ourselves spiritually AND continue to surrender to the Holy Spirit s influence in our lives. There is a box at the Info Desk for the receipts. Funds received benefit the youth group. Sign-Up Sheets Sign-Up Sheets are on the bulletin board in the church office for those who would like to sign-up to volunteer for 2017 Communion Preparation and for Locking/Unlocking Doors and Turn On/Off A/C. We currently need volunteers for March, April, June, August, September, November & December. GriefShare Support Group GriefShare meets weekly from 7:00 9:00 P.M. on Tuesdays. Led by Charlotte Thomason and co-led by Jeff Spielman. They meet in the Fellowship Hall, Sonseekers & Friendship Classrooms. Nursery is available. This cycle of GriefShare ended February 7. The next cycle will begin in the Spring. Sympathy Deepest Christian sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Becky Frenzel. Becky passed away Friday, February 3, She will be greatly missed. Also, Debra Jirous, Don Cooper s sister of Naples, Florida passed away Sunday, January 29, 2017 and O. C. Jones, Tommy Schoppe s uncle passed away recently. We pray that God will comfort these families during their time of loss. Ladies Ministry News The ladies ministry would like to invite the whole church to participate in a monthly project for H.I.S. Ministries for We will be accepting donations of paper towels and toilet paper at the information desk in the foyer the entire month of March to be donated at the end of the month. Please bring your donations and put them in the large, navy blue container behind the information desk. Thank you so much in advance for your contributions! The ladies ministry would like to send gift cards to our college students to encourage them in their semester. We will be accepting gift cards in a basket on the information table for the next eight weeks. Please consider including this in your budgets to share some love with our students. If you would like to include a gift card in honor of a special student of yours, please remember to put their name on it. Thank you for your generosity. The next ladies ministry meeting will be Monday evening, March 6 at 7pm in the fellowship hall. All ladies of the church, we would love to see you there and have your company. See you on the 6th! 2

5 Words From The Associate Bryan Marks Arguments or Obedience Simplicity is the secret to seeing things clearly. A saint does not think clearly until a long time passes, but a saint ought to see clearly without any difficulty. You cannot think through spiritual confusion to make things clear; to make things clear, you must obey. In intellectual matters you can think things out, but in spiritual matters you will only think yourself into further wandering thoughts and more confusion. If there is something in your life upon which God has put His pressure, then obey Him in that matter. Bring all your arguments and...every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ regarding the matter, and everything will become as clear as daylight to you (2 Corinthians 10:5). Your reasoning capacity will come later, but reasoning is not how we see. Even the very smallest thing that we allow in our lives that is not under the control of the Holy Spirit is completely sufficient to account for spiritual confusion, and spending all of our time thinking about it will still never make it clear. Spiritual confusion can only be conquered through obedience. When our natural power of sight is devoted and submitted in obedience to the Holy Spirit, it becomes the power by which we perceive God s will. Helping Others The next meeting will be on Tuesday, March 21st at 1:00 P.M. in the fellowship hall.. The next delivery will be for M. D. Anderson on St. John Drive Nassau Bay. Make plans to join us for friendship and refreshments. We will be making totes, turbans, pillows and lap covers, something for everyone. We always need yarn, crossword word search puzzles ($1.00) at the Dollar Stores. Mark your calendar. Helping Others was started in Sept and we have continued through the years with some of the same ladies and joined by other ladies. WE continue to GROW. We have 21 ladies actively involved. Since starting we have added things that were of need, that helps make patients feel better. There continues to be a need to HELP OTH- ERS.
