2 Obituary Order of Service Behold I shew you a mystery; we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed. 1 Corinthians 15:51 PROCESSIONAL Elder Stephen Harvey, Officiant Elder Roosevelt P. Conway, Eulogist The Family Elder Doc Marshall Minter was born on October 25, 1943 to the late Doc Minter and Olevia Stovall Minter. He went home to be with the Lord on February 17, He married Wilma Lou Henrietta Marable on April 6, To this union five children were born. SELECTION SCRIPTURE Old Testament New Testament Reverend George Clark Pastor Rick Clouse He accepted Christ at an early age and united with Brandon View Missionary Baptist Church, Christiana, Tennessee and in later years he united with New Haley Church of God, Sanctified, Shelbyville, Tennessee. Of all his accomplishments, his love of God and helping his fellowman were his greatest treasures. Because of the kind of man Doc was, he would work all day on his regular job, and without hesitation, if needed, would crawl under houses to fix plumbing problems, or whatever issue going wrong, and he did it with joy, and with or without pay. He accepted his call into the ministry under the leadership of Elder William Birdsong, and proving faithful to his calling, he was ordained as an Elder of the Church of God, Sanctified. He was the Associate Minister of New Haley Church of God, Sanctified in Shelbyville, Tennessee. Elder Minter met no strangers and enjoyed sharing the word of God with anyone he met. One of his favorite songs was, How Great Thou Art. Elder Minter will be greatly missed by his family, church family and friends. He leaves to cherish his memories, loving wife, Wilma L. Henrietta Minter; children, Felicia (Ronnie) Burney, Michael (Robbie) Minter, Patrice L. Minter, Francietta (Victor) Mayberry, Olivia (Tyrone) Lewis and Detra (Tim) Simpson; siblings, Rose Scott of Akron, Ohio, Sarah Richardson, Ruth (Jessie) James and brother, George (Bebbie) Minter; 15 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and a host of other devoted family members and friends. 3 Loving Tributes Loving Tributes OUR FATHER We will not look at this as goodbye. We will not allow the sorrow of this event to destroy us. You have not died but have gone Home. You will forever be a part of our lives. We are your legacy. Thank you for being kind, generous, and stronger than you will ever know. But most of all, thank you for loving us and being our rock. You have inspired us to live life to the fullest, and never back down. In time, we hope to embrace your freedom, freedom from your pain, and freedom from the weight of your illness. Sorrow is inevitable, but we will face this in time with the same courage you did, because we are you, and you are our Father. We forgive you for telling Darice that she never had to work, Because she took it to heart lol The Life of Our Legend Doc Marshall Minter was born the twelfth child of thirteen to Doc Minter and Olevia Stovall Minter on October 25, 1943 in Christiana, Tennessee. His father worked on the railroad, but was mainly a farmer. His mother was a devoted housewife and mother, always making sure they had clean clothes and three meals a day. He attended grade school in Christiana, Tennessee and graduated in 1962 from Holloway High School in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He fulfilled that dream of being one of the first blacks to enter and graduate from college; he did so with a B.S. degree in Biology and went on to obtain a Master s degree in Psychology at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. After graduating from MTSU, he furthered his education in criminal justice, electricity, plumbing, and various other skills of interest. Doc Minter was truly a jack-of-all-trades and a master in all of them. Doc married Wilma Lou Henrietta Marable in 1964 and to this union five children were born, four girls and one boy. A Letter to Our Grandfather Pa, Some would say you were a jack-of-all-trades. All of us considered you a hero. We all had a unique relationship with you, but we all were considered by you beautiful or to use your exact word pretty like you. Through all your mishaps in life, you would still sing God s praises. We will truly miss you! We understand you were tired, but we loved taking care of you just as you took care of us. Thank you for your love, kindness, and patience. Though we are saddened because you aren t physically here on Earth, we are very happy and proud you made it through Heaven s gates and securely resting in God s arms. May you Truly Rest in Peace, Your Grandchildren From he served in the United States Army. From he was a Police Officer and a Detective with the Murfreesboro Police Department. He was employeed with Firestone (now Bridgestone) in LaVergne, Tennessee as a supervisor from From he worked for Tridon Incorporated in Smyrna, Tennessee. On February 24, 2003, the Lord called him into the ministry. Due to his failing health, he was only able to fulfill his duties as a Minister for one year. By continuing his education and obtaining several college degrees, he has shown his family and others they can achieve anything. Throughout it all, he continued to love the Lord, his family, and life.
