It was a month of church outreach. We began this month with our church presentation at the Bowiefest for the very first time. I was thankful that our church was able to take the opportunity to reach out to our community. It was a blessing to work together with Hope to You and Redeemer Child requests were prayed for on the spot. Many children stopped by for face painting, making bracelets, and coloring. I had an opportunity to get aquatinted with pastors and other spiritual leaders in the community. We shared our vision to work together in the effort of expanding His kingdom in our community. Being located under the shade of a tree right at the waterfront was an additional blessing of the day. The Mad Hatter Tea Party was held just one week after Bowiefest in which our members hosted guests from outside of the church. Both children and their parents had enjoyed the snacks and the time of fellowship. Many thanks to those who prepared for the event. Hope To You and our church had a wonderful time at the picnic after church on It was fun and encouraging to see the younger generations from both churches mingling and playing together. We experienced unity and togetherness. I am glad the environment for joint ministry is nurturing. I was glad to serve at the grill alongside Pastor Leo and other helpers. We were blessed with each other, good food and good weather. The last activity in June was a week long Vacation Bible School. Under the leadership of Delores, volunteers from both churches and RCCC provided outstanding how to be strong for God with music, arts & crafts, games and snacks. There were a total of 78 children that attended VBS of which 33 children were from the Bowie community (not enrolled at RCCC). We had a total of 35 workers (10 RCCC staff, 10 RCCC volunteers, 10 and coins to show God's love by helping the needy. We collected 4 large grocery bags of food for the food pantry in Bowie and $ for the Missions Project for the children in Thailand. It was a fun-filled, amazing experience, enjoyed by all who were present. God was Bowiefest. I envision that many children who participated in the VBS will grow to be wonderful servants for the Lord. I should not forget to mention that our church members also participated in the that the ministry raised more than $40,000 in 48 hours. I am glad we were part of the campaign. opportunities for outreach, and special prayer for Krista who is in the mission trip to India until the last part of July and Sam who is staffing the Discipleship Training School in DC. I am thankful that God continues to consider us as His faithful servants. I pray that God who blessed us to provide services in different forms will continue to bless us and guide us to see the fruits of our labors in love. GOD IS GOOD! ALL THE TIME! Pastor James Choi

You might have seen Does It Really Matter If We Speak To Others by Brent Heckart Recently, the Church of the Redeemer and Hope To You worked together during Bowie Fest. We actively met and spoke to people as they passed our table by going to them on the sidewalk. We gave them a packet with information about both churches, RCCC, and the VBS. But we also verbally told everyone, with children, about the VBS. Both churches stepped out in faith and God answered. There were 100 or so children and less than half were pre-registered. Sure some came from the newspaper ads, but many came because of our efforts during Bowie Fest. Yes, it really does matter if we speak to others. You may be the one that tilts the scales of their heart towards God. BOWIEFEST 2013

The children started by making necklaces and coloring pictures. Then we had a yummy tea and light lunch. After the tea the children played flamingo croquet and bean bag toss, winning prizes. In addition to the children and their parents, Mary Colea brought Karen and her friend Pauletter, who also enjoyed the tea party and making necklaces. Paulette enjoyed herself so much, she was anxious to return and joined us for church and the picnic the next week. The tea party itself went well and all who came had a good time. However, it was smaller than anticipated -summer month.

There are 30 other famous Bible names in here too of people and places. As usual, the letters can run in any order up, down, left, right and diagonally. Have fun! THE TYNDALE OLD AND NEW TESTAMENT COMMENTARIES see the article elsewhere in this newsletter have had various covers over the years, so you might run into any of these and even a few more! The Genesis and Matthew designs were used over the longest period of time, so are the most commonly seen. Look for the commentaries short of stature, long in value, rich in helpfulness, wise in spiritual application. Solution on pg. 8 Immigration Reform Emily Montfort As I listen to arguments from the left and the right, the one constant is that we do need immigration reform. I wonder how The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the LORD your God. Leviticus 19:34 18 "He executes justice for the orphan and the widow, and shows His love for the alien by giving him food and clothing. 19 "So show your love for the alien, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt. Deuteronomy 10:18-19 All throughout the Old Testament, God admonishes His people to be kind to the outsiders in their midst. In the New Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without One of my friends suggested that we limit our welcome to those who are well educated, or who have a particular skill that we need, or those who can prove that they have ample means to support themselves once here without needing any help from us. I took issue with that. All four of my grandparents were immigrants (as was my mother). Had my grandparents been unable to come, all the teachers in my family would not have touched the lives of so many students; my brother would not have developed the means of culturing cells that has led to so many medical discoveries, all of the engineering patents of my cousin Len would not be serving us and other countries around the world. This nation has grown strong on the backs of those who emigrated here and their progeny. I believe in keeping out the criminal and the dangerous, but keeping out

My favorite activity was when we painted or colored. I really like the snack time, too! My favorite lesson of the entire week was when they picked me to be the King and everyone else smashed their cups. We pretended the cups were idols. At first, I didn't get to smash a cup because I was King and the King didn't smash cups. Afterwards, I was able to smash a cup and pretend it was an idol. I had a very good time at Vacation Bible School. Timothy Babcock - age 8 I enjoyed helping out at VBS. I enjoyed doing activities with the other little kids. I also enjoyed singing songs and learning new stories, and eating snacks. The leaders were so much fun. The songs were my favorite. The snacks were awesome. I love RCCC VBS.
