First United Methodist Church Newton, North Carolina First United Methodist Church exists to glorify God as we Welcome persons into the body of Christ, help them Grow as disciples of Jesus Christ and Send them to serve in the world. Promotion Sunday August 5 PLANTING THE SEEDS OF FAITH! We will celebrate Promotion Sunday, August 5th in the Children s Department. All children ages 3 through those entering 6th Grade are invited to begin Sunday School in their current classroom. During the hour the children will spend time in the Garden planting seeds of faith and discovering their new classes. At the end of Sunday School, parents will pick up their children in their new classrooms. CHILDREN & YOUTH SUMMER FUN & SERVICE! Just a few of the highlights from this summer s program of ministry and mission! Children s Sunday School bagged cat and dog food for the Human Society. Tomatoes were picked to give to clients at ECCCM. Residents of Abernethy were blessed by the sounds of VBS songs. Youth experienced God s playground on the Appalachian Trail and set to work painting their new Youth Room. Thank you to First Methodist Church for your continued support of the Children and Youth Ministries! On Wednesday afternoons from 3:00-5:30, your help would be invaluable as you share in the lives of children from kindergarten through 6 th Grade. There are a variety of ways to help you could serve as a shepherd to simply lead classes through the 3 stations of programs. You could serve as a snack server or recreation leader. And there is always a need for a few extra adults to chaperone the children during their time on the playground! 3 First Methodist Youth Ministries Upcoming Events! August 12 Youth 3:00pm Youth Room 4:00 It s time to check out the newly decorated Youth Room! A space has been created just for Youth to worship & fellowship. Drop in at 4:00pm and then enjoy the festivities on the front lawn with Reunion Cruisin Day! Spiritus August Fall Kick-off at Lake Hickory! August 26 Join the fun as the new 6 th Graders are welcomed into the Youth program at an all day Lake Party at the home of Tom & Margaret Dixon. Youth and their families are invited to this day of water fun and fellowship from 1:00-7:00pm. More details will be forthcoming. No regularly scheduled Youth on Sunday, August 5. First Methodist Children s Ministry KIDS FOR CHRIST Begins August 22! K4X is an after school ministry for children in Kindergarten through 6th Grade. K4X meets every Wednesday from 3:00-5:30pm during the school year. Fun filled activities such as drama, art, music, puppets, liturgical dancing and mission projects are offered throughout the year. Each week, we begin our time together with outside play then share a delicious, healthy snack together. The children are then divided into three age groups: K-1st, 2nd-3rd, and 4th-5th and rotate through three different stations: Music, Drama & Arts, and Devotional & Homework Time.
