Saturday worship remains in place at 5:30 PM. Saturday 5:30 PM Sunday SUMMER FELLOWSHIP TABLE Sundays after Join us for refreshments & fellowship. Sponsors for the table each week are needed. Sign up in the gathering room. JULY 22 at 11:00 AM Everyone, young and old, is invited to attend the annual picnic on Sunday, July 22. The festivities will begin with worship at 11:00 AM at Albright's Woods Park. A covered dish social will follow worship. Bring your lawn chair and a favorite covered dish to share. Hot dogs and drinks will be provided. There will be games for all to participate. Donations for BINGO prizes are appreciated. A signup sheet will be located at the gathering room by June 17 th so that we can provide the hot dogs and drinks. The 11:00 AM picnic service will be the only service on Sunday, June 22. 1

2 Dear Friends and Fellow Members of St. Paul s At a special Congregational meeting held on Sunday, 29 April 2018, the Property Committee discussed the replacement of a portion of our roof. President Scott Butler explained the need to move forward on this project; roofers are scheduling their summer jobs now, and we don't want this necessary improvement to be pushed off until fall. Property Committee member Steve Zimmerman explained that the section of the roof in need of replacement faces the rear parking lot and was recently in need of patching. That work cost $2200, and the job entailed a lift which had to be rented from Bartush. Since then more shingles have flown off. This peak encompasses about one third of the entire roof and is constantly buffeted by wind. The contractor recommended by the Property Committee is Alan Kunsman of Freemansburg, PA; Barry Berger had given his name to Steve. His 3 April bid promised the replacement of 3100 sq. feet of roof and includes a 20-year warranty. The roof will be guaranteed to stand up to 130 mph winds by means of 20-year Landmark shingles with six nails per shingle. Discussion ensued, during which Scott asked Mary Timpany if she would look over the contract because on the fine print of the warranty; she agreed. Chris Long then made a motion to utilize Alan Kunsman Roofing & Siding, Inc. and set up a capital fund for the roofing project with a $32,000 cap. Mary Ellen Hering seconded, and the motion carried unanimously. At our 14 May meeting, Church Council again discussed the roof. President Scott Butler reported that he had spoken with Steve that afternoon, and the contract for the roof had been given to Alan Kunsman. Council had set a cap of $32,000 on the work, and the bid came in at $24,720. Scott read the particulars from the bid, dated 9 May 2018, i.a., the use of Landmark Standard AR shingles, but he said these will be upgraded to premium. The Council was advised by the Finance Committee to do a mailing to all members, asking for help with this great expense. If you are able to contribute to the roof project, enclosed you will find an envelope for your use. If 2 you get the Newsletter via , envelopes will be in the Gathering Room next to the flower and bulleting notebook. We'll also be setting up a thermometer in the narthex to illustrate how we are doing as we strive to reach our goal. Thank you for your consideration of this matter! 3 Class of 2018 Kate Bolinsky graduated from Blue Mountain High School. She will attend the Honors College of West Virginia University to study Nursing. Ethan Dewald graduated from Blue Mountain High School. He will attend the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA in the fall. He is pursuing a degree in Biology and Environmental Science. Kayleigh Elser has graduated with her Master s degree in Occupational Therapy from Misericordia University. David Krewson will graduate from Blue Mountain High School. He will attend Hobart and William Smith College in Geneva, NY, where he will pursue a degree in Business/Economics with a focus on Entrepreneurial Studies. He plans to go on and get an MBA. David was recruited for the football team and hopes to compete for the starting position as quarterback. Hobart is starting a track team this fall and he would like to throw javelin for them. Caitlin Shoener has graduated from Moravian College with a degree in Nursing. Lucas Shoener has graduated from Blue Mountain High School. Alexander Sklar has graduated from Lock Haven University with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Administration. He will be pursuing a Master of Science in Sports Science at Lock Haven University. Alexandria Spitler has graduated from Penn State Berks with a degree in Business Administration and a minor in Accounting. Katie Zehner graduated from Blue Mountain High School and attend the University of Scranton. Her major will be History ADULT FORUM Our Adult Forum will resume in September We will complete our study of BY HEART: Conversations with Martin Luther s Small Catechism. We will continue with Chapter 5 The Sacrament of Holy Baptism and Confession and Chapter 7 Daily Prayer and the Household Chart. Keep reading! Enjoy your summer! See you in September in the Parlor for Adult Forum St. Paul's Third Thursday FPU Group NO MEETING IN JUNE Next meeting July 19 at 6:30 PM The Evangelism Committee participated in the OBPA Yappy Hour on the Orwigsburg Square on May 10th. The committee will also participate in the OBPA Family Funfest on June 14th from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM. Hope to see you there! The Women of St. Paul s thank those of you who baked cookies for the ELCA International Seafarers project. The response was wonderful as there were over 25 boxes that Pastor Rex picked up at church on Wednesday, April 25th. He was taking them directly to the Port of Philadelphia that day. There were 10 ships in Port already from all over the world with 30 more ships expected that week. Pastor Rex was very appreciative of our cookies and assured us that all the seafarers would really enjoy them as they are not allowed to leave their ships. Thanks again, St. Paul's! All the Women of St. Paul's are invited to a summer Hawaiian Luau Party on Tuesday, June 12 th at 11:30 AM. It will be held at the home of Gloria Dierwechter. (Rain date: June 14th) We ask everyone to bring a covered dish to share. This is a nice way to welcome summer and to enjoy an afternoon of fun and fellowship with our St. Paul's ladies! 4 THE LIBRARY CORNER A book is a gift you can open again and again. Hello, dear Friends at St. Paul's! It's been a while since you've heard from your favorite church library mouse! Herman, Lucy, and I have been moving around, trying to stay warm during this past very unusual winter. We thought that Spring would never come! The library ladies missed us especially since we have been visiting our cousins at St. John's, Salem, and The Red Church. (We all caught up on "mouse" and church news, too!) We got back just in time for the beautiful Easter services here. How wonderful is the gift of forgiveness because of our Risen Lord! We were glad to see our church decorated so well! Thank you, Miz Kim, for sharing your talents to make the high altar more beautiful with the very meaningful Crown of Thorns then the gorgeous Butterfly Flight," reminding us of our new life in Christ Jesus! Thank you to the Altar Guild and Team and others who made the sanctuary so lovely with the Easter flower garden. Also, thanks to our Chancel and Bell choirs, Justin, and Mr. Steve for the wonderful music to lift our hearts! Isn't it great during this transition time that St. Paul's is thriving and moving forward due to our loving, talented, and sharing St. Paul's family! Oh, and please do not forget that our library has a wonderful selection of great summer books. Do stop by the Library Corner and take a peek. Because of promoting our Easter services, our special Mindful Monday Lenten Meditation posts, and our Patriotic Concert Event, posting pictures of our 2018 BMHS graduates and Confirmands, and going live (streaming video online) during our Palm Sunday and Easter Services, and the Concert, I'm excited to announce that we are at 204 Likes on the Facebook Page. Plus we reached over 3, 000 people online with our activity! Thank you for spreading the Come and See message by inviting people to worship and to our events by sharing the information with your friends. WOW! As we head into the Summer months, I know plans and travels take us away from our normal routines. There is, however, an easy way to enrich your faith and give you a resource for prayer and reflection while you are on the go: the Luther's Small Catechism App can be downloaded to your Smart Phone. It's a free app that is made available by Concordia Publishing House. Check it out to stay connected to your faith, even when you are busy or travelling.
