In the name of God, who creates life, in the name of Jesus Christ, who redeemed all life, and in the name of the Spirit, who renews all life, we cry with all in the circle of life: C. Shalom! Shalom! 4 WORD A Reading from Genesis 6 Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters came on the earth. 7 And Noah with his sons and his wife and his sons' wives went into the ark to escape the waters of the flood. 8 Of clean animals, and of animals that are not clean, and of birds, and of everything that creeps on the ground, 9 two and two, male and female, went into the ark with Noah, as God had commanded Noah. 10 And after seven days the waters of the flood came on the earth. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. 13 HARVEST HOME OCTOBER 7 and 8 We are looking for your fresh fruits and vegetables for our Harvest Home display on October 7 and 8. These items will be deposited with the soup kitchen in Pottsville. Dried and canned goods will also be collected and deposited in the food pantry. (Please see the list below.) If the Church isn t open, leave them on the narthex porch and steps. We ll see that they get inside. Items are needed. ORWIGSBURG FOOD PANTRY Every month these items are included in the basic box given to our clients: 1. Cereal 13. Canned fruit 2. Peanut butter 14. 14 HYMN FESTIVAL Sunday, October 15 4:00 PM In honor of the 500 th Anniversary, St. Paul s Chancel and Bell Choirs, will be presenting a Hymn Festival featuring hymns of the Reformation. You will also hear a meditation by a parishioner on each hymn. This concert is open to the community; a free will offering will be taken Blood Pressure Screening The Service Ministry Committee is sponsoring free blood pressure screening on the first Saturday/Sunday of each month immediately following the worship service. Screenings for October are Sunday, October 1 st following 8 & 10:30 AM worship, and Saturday, October 7 th. We have registered nurses who have volunteered to be part of this ministry. 14

Crystal Brensinger and Service Ministry Committee need help for the October 7 Bazaar. -Someone to grill hotdogs from 9:30 AM until 1:00 PM -Four people in the kitchen -Vegetables for vegetable soup. Sign-up on the sheets in the narthex or let Crystal Brensinger or Barbara Sterner know Welcome to St. Paul s! One Ash Wednesday evening, mother, father, and two children appeared. Soon we started seeing them on Sundays. The children began to attend Sunday school and as we pursued Social Media, mother was asked to be our present manager. We welcome Jason, Jessica, Madison, and Cole Swick into our membership! Someone appeared in Sunday School on a regular basis as his grandson pursued Confirmation. He began to attend the Reformation 500 meetings and volunteered to be Luther for Heritage Day and Rally Day. He shared an inspiring testimony for our Patriotic Concert. Today, Stuart Richards becomes a member of St. Paul s. Congratulations one and all! 15
