5 April 2018 San Antonio Jewish Senior Services Dachau, from page 1 3 p.m. in the Holzman Auditorium, followed by a book signing at 4:30 p.m. at the HMMSA (both located on The Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Campus of the Jewish Community). Tickets are $5. To RSVP or for more information, visit sajss.com/jack- Sacco or call (210) Rides, from page 1 to our vibrant, event-filled community, we will arrange transportation to programs including congregational senior lunches, religious services, cultural events, and educational programs like the Jack Sacco talk on April 22. So how does it work? It s easy! Call the SAJSS office at (210) with your ride information, we ll call our driver, and then he ll call you to confirm the ride. We only work with familiar drivers, so you can rest assure you ll be met at your door, assisted to the car, and returned home the same way. Wheelchairs can be accommodated; please let us know if that s a need when booking the ride. While we consider all transportation requests important, some really tug at our heartstrings. One of the most poignant calls came from a 90-year old Holocaust survivor. She needed a ride to a congregational cemetery, where she was to help bury a box that held anonymous remains from Auschwitz the concentration camp she survived. We received another call from a woman whose car was totaled. She was relieved to discover that between rides from us and our partner organizations, she could avoid the expensive burden of a new car. Our mission at SAJSS is to make life better for San Antonio Jewish seniors by creating and fostering connections between the individual and the broader community and providing transportation is one of the most effective ways we help seniors connect with the community. Need a ride? Call us. We ll get you there! April YEARS: TRICENTENNIAL SHINDIG Celebrate the impact that the Jewish community has had on our city throughout the years, as we also mark the 70th Anniversary of the State of Israel with a shuk style street fair. All outdoor event, with minimal shade Limited parking Portable restrooms only High security & bag checks No outside food or beverages allowed NOON 6 PM AT TEMPLE BETH-EL THE CORNER OF ASHBY & BELKNAP Schwartz, from page 1 were enjoyable, educational, and creative. For example, the bitter herb was represented by bitter chocolate and wine was substituted by chocolate milk. Sugar-free chocolate was also available. All items represented on the Seder plates were kosher thanks to SAJSS Creative and Special Projects Manager Lauren Sandoval. In addition to holiday celebrations like this, we run Jewish Living Programs at these locations throughout the year. Staff, local clergy, and volunteers lead Shabbat programs, Jewishthemed movies, and discussions in an effort to enrich the lives of Jewish seniors. We are eager to hear ideas of the Jewish programs you would like us to bring to you or to sponsor in the community. Thank you for allowing us to spend time with you and to work together to create more opportunities for your enrichment in the community. I look forward to joining you at additional programs throughout the year and especially to celebrating our 50 years of service together at our anniversary luncheon event later this year. Happy Passover and best wishes, Stacey Kline Schwartz Tomorrow s results are created by today s hopes and dreams.
