While pregnant, she is told that two nations are in her womb, and bears twins, Esau and Jacob. 2. (25:27-34) Esau sells his birthright to Jacob for a pot of stew. 3. (26:1-16) Isaac and Rebecca flee famine to Gerar. God renews for Isaac the covenant He made with Abraham. Isaac, fearing the Philistines, says Rebecca is his sister. 4. (26:17-22) Isaac moves to the Gerar valley, but still has problems with the Philistines. He finds a peaceful place to settle and names it Rechovot. Balk Family Memorial Camp Scholarship We are now accepting nominations for summer 2017 resident camp scholarships funded by the Balk Family Memorial Camp Scholarship Fund. This fund perpetuates the memory and ideals of Beth David members Sheldon and Melvina Balk and their sons, Richard and David Balk. We seek to capture and light the spirit of Judaism in our youth, especially those who may seem apathetic about Jewish activities. We offer substantial aid, not based on academic results or activities, but, rather, to awaken a student s Jewish identity. We give preference to first time campers. Rabbi Neril has engaged in several inter-religious projects on environmental sustainability. His work encourages the cooperation of religious leaders, teachers, and communities on ecological issues. About the Speaker: A native of California, Rabbi Neril completed an M.A. from Stanford focusing on global environmental issues, and received rabbinical ordination in Israel.
