So how do Jewish ethics inform our discussions and decisions about the critical questions of today? This course includes short video presentations by faculty members from the Jewish Theological Seminary, as well as quick videos featuring people who grapple with ethical challenges in their professional work. Participants will be able to access all course materials online, including videos. Ethical issues to be discussed include: a) food production, b) fracking, c) mass incarceration, d) modern-day slavery, e) torture and war, f) end-of-life care. Since our first meeting, we have welcomed three refugee families, two from Syria and one from Iraq. We encourage everyone to get involved! Volunteers are needed to shelve and bag the food, as well as to pick up food at the Hillside FoodBank. Our popular Shabbat Shabbat Katan at Oheb Shalom Katan, led by Miss Vivian, is an energetic and fun service for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers accompanied by an adult, of course. Everyone joins in for singing and dancing, then Miss Vivian will lead us in story time and a craft project. Snacks for the kids and coffee for parents are always on hand, and you are invited to join the full congregational Kiddush immediately following Katan. The indoor playroom is open before AND after the service for some extra play time! Our Katan community prides itself on being warm and welcoming. You do not need to be a synagogue member to attend! Katan meets EVERY Saturday from 11:15 AM - 12:15 PM. SOMA FAMILY SHABBAT A relaxed Shabbat service for families with young children, followed by an activity and dinner. A great way to spend Friday evening together as a family and with friends! Oheb Shalom s S MA Family Shabbat Each month is centered on a theme, with ageappropriate crafts and activities to keep little hands busy.
