These Magi probably had been influenced by Biblical prophecies leo in Persia by Daniel and his friends centuries earlier. But Herod and other Israelites weren t aware that a meaningful star existed un.l the Magi pointed it out. So what did the Magi see? Astronomers with sophis.cated computer models have traced the paths of planets and found that Jupiter and Venus aligned with each other to produce a very bright star par.cularly in June of 2 BC. There had been several close conjunc.ons months earlier. Since the Bible says that God created lights in the sky for signs and seasons (Gen 1:14), and since the date of Jesus birth isn t known exactly, they have proposed that the conjunc.on of Jupiter and Venus near Regulus the King Star may have been the Bethlehem Star. Several close conjunc.ons months earlier may have aroused the interest of the Magi who made a 6 to 7- month journey on camelback to arrive in Jerusalem in June of 2 BC. Ancient Rabbis thought that the Regulus Star in the constella.on Leo is associated with the Lion of the tribe of Judah. This same very close conjunc.on between the planets and the King Star happened again this year on June 30, These objects in the sky haven t been this close for 2000 years since the.me of Christ s birth. The Iranian Nuclear Agreement is hotly debated Recently Mojtaba Zolnour, one of Iran s top officials, reasserted a long standing edict that the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran has divine permission to destroy Israel. Iran s Supreme leader Ali Khamenei explains that it is absolutely logical that Israel should not exist for three major reasons: Israel is an ally of the Great Satan, known as the United States of America; Israel is a hos.le infidel because it has waged war against Muslims ; and Israel occupies Islam s third holiest city, Jerusalem. Iran has not abided by any of the nuclear agreement so far.
