1 P a g e 1 BLOOD MOONS - WHAT IS THAT ALL ABOUT? BY KEVIN WATSON (APRIL 2014) INTRODUCTION Many on the Earth right now are all abuzz about Blood Moons. What s all the fuss about? There happens to be one of these rare events happening tonight. This will be clearly visible in North America and the Caribbean, but probably not so visible down here in Australia, because of timing and the suns angle. What has grabbed people s attention more at this time, is the 2013 book written by a Pastor from San Antonio, Texas, whose name is John Hagee. Mark Blitz seems to have something to do with this subject too. He expresses the thought that this event marks a very "significant event for the world. Maybe, maybe not! Let s do a little research and see what we can learn on this subject. It s a subject that I know virtually nothing about at present. WHAT IS A BLOOD MOON? It occurs when the moon changes colour from the normal yellowy/orange to blood red or brown in the time of a total lunar eclipse. It s supposed to last for about 3 hours while the moon moves into the Earth s shadow. So the earth comes between the sun and the moon. As the sun shines through our atmosphere, it throws a shade on the moon, masking the moon look red. This does not happen very often, but when it does it has been noticed that there can be a tie up with some historical events happening. The origin of the term is religious, because the Bible makes reference to the moon being turned red several times, and in each instance it has to do with the Day of the Lord. More about that later! Genesis 1:14 God tells us that the heavenly bodies were created to serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years. The word seasons is better translated as divine appointments. WHAT IS A LUNAR TETRAD, THAT EVERYONE SEEMS TO BE TALKING ABOUT? They refer to a Lunar Tetrad occurring in What s a tetrad? It s four successive total lunar eclipses, with no partial lunar eclipses in between, each of which is separated from the other by six lunar months (six full moons). DATES FOR THE BLOOD MOONS IN 2014 AND

2 P a g e 2 Total lunar eclipse: April = Passover Total lunar eclipse: October 8th = Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot) 2015 Total lunar eclipse: April 4th = Passover Total lunar eclipse: September 28th = Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot) There are a total of 8 tetrads in the 21st century ( ). Prophecy buffs regard the upcoming tetrad as especially significant because it coincides with two important Jewish holidays: Passover and Tabernacles. In actual fact anyone who writes on this subject, claims this Blood Moon falls on the Passover; they are a day out because the Jews keep it a day late. It may coincide with the so called Jewish Passover, but in fact that is the NTBMO, which falls on the eve of the 1st Annual Holy day or what we call the 1st Day of Unleavened Bread or the 15th of Nissan. The true Passover is on the eve of the 14th of Nissan. The April 2014 and April 2015 total lunar eclipses align with the feast of the 1st Day of ULB. The October 2014 and September 2015 total lunar eclipses align with the feast of Tabernacles. The Jewish calendar is a lunar calendar. In any year, it s inevitable that a full moon should fall on or near the feasts of the 1st day of Unleavened Bread (15 Nissan) and Tabernacles (15 Tishri). Nissan and Tishri are the first and seventh months of the Jewish calendar, respectively. It is somewhat ironic that three of these four lunar eclipses are not visible- even in part from Israel. The only eclipse that can be seen at all from Israel is the tail end of the September 28th, 2015 eclipse, which may be observable for a short while before sunrise. We have some rare occurrences happening this year (2015). A solar eclipse on March 20th (Nisan 1) = sign of judgment, which has always proved true in the past. It s interesting that the Israeli election was March 17th and March 20th was the not so friendly congratulatory phone call from President Obama, where he threatened Israel with no more support at the United Nations. Then we have a blood moon falling on the New Year and Passover respectively, - all at a time when the Jewish State is under great persecution. God is perhaps[s trying to tell us something about a Divine appointment. Nisan 1, 70 A.D. = later that year the Romans attacked Jerusalem and completely destroyed the Temple. This time it falls right in the middle of the blood moon tetrad, and it also happens to fall in the Shemitah year. Total eclipses DO NOT happen on any other known planet, as pointed out by intelligent design scientists. They only take place on Earth, which is a finely tuned planet where life exists that can actually view them. Jewish Rabbis have a saying; that the word co-incidence is not a kosher word. These signs show us we are in a powerful, phenomenal time, a time of great testing for both Israel and the World.

3 P a g e 3 HOW OFTEN DO TETRADS OF TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSES OCCUR? There seems to be no regular set occurrence. For example in the 21st century ( ) there are a total of 8 tetrads, but in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, there were none at all. If we include all the centuries from the 1st century (A.D.1-100) through to the 21st century, inclusive, there are a total of 62 tetrads. The last one occurred in , and the next one after the tetrad will happen in What is surprising is the tetrads which fall specifically on what are today termed as Jewish feasts. They are not Jewish Feasts, but God s Feast days which are designed to be observed by all mankind. The fact that the Jews along with the Greeks were given charge of preserving the scriptures throughout history, and that Christ was born into a Jewish family, everyone seems to now erroneously refer to them as Jewish feasts. We in the Church of God have kept these very same Feast days since their inception. Prior to that ancient Israel used to keep them as instructed when they were first dictated by the Almighty God, although in times of apostasy and when under evil leaders these practises were frequently trampled underfoot, till someone later resurrected them. Sadly only a handful observe the Annual Holy days as required throughout all the Israelite nations today. They are conveniently forgotten and ascribed solely to the Jewish people which is very wrong. Here are the 8 times in which these lunar tetrads fall on Holy Days C.E. (Common era) C.E C.E C.E C.E C.E C.E C.E. WHY IS THE TERM BLOOD MOON BEING USED TO MEAN A FULL MOON OF A LUNAR TETRAD? No one really seems to know why, other than the fact that it is a very recent term to describe a lunar tetrad. It could have gained prominence from John Hagee s 2013 book. Again here is the definition of a lunar tetrad. It is four successive total lunar eclipses, with no partial eclipses in between, each of which is separated from the other by six lunar months (six full moons). There is no reason why Blood moon should be associated with this term. 4 P a g e 4 SO WHY IS EVERYONE GETTING SO EXCITED ABOUT BLOOD MOONS? It would seem some supposed Christians believe the phenomenon represents the End of Days and the second coming of Christ. From what I have learnt in this hurried study, there does seem to be a lot of coincidences with expulsions tying in with the occurrences of these lunar Blood Moons. According to popular American evangelical Pastor John Hagee, the blood moons are historically linked within a time period That begins with a tragedy, and ends with a triumph, for the Jewish people 1. For example, in the 1493 one, there was the expulsion of the Jews by the Spanish Inquisition, from within Spain. King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella ordered all Jewish people out of Spain. 200,000 were expelled and till the time of expulsion were very much a well - established part of the Spanish culture. In fleeing many were killed or died en route out of Spain. 2. The 1949 one coincided with the establishment of the State of Israel (really it was only the one tribe of the Jews, not Israel). In 1948 the Jews had declared themselves a nation, but the first permanent government took office on January 25th Up to then Israel had had a transitional government through = The Six Day June War. The Jews in the course of this lightning quick war expelled a lot of Palestinians and Arabs and succeeded in taking over the whole of Jerusalem from the Jordanians ? It s just possible that in this lunar happening that today s nation of Israel could be severely affected by expulsion. It s possible President Obama who has a declared position of dividing Israel to pre-1967 borders and to create Palestinian state within Israel. Obama wants an agreement in place by the end of 2014, and has had John Kerry rushing back and forth between the Israeli s and the Palestinians trying to get an agreement signed. It looks like they both are not budging on their declared positions at present. No one has the right to push Judah around as Obama is trying, and he will be severely punished by God for doing so. Really these authors are trying to say that Jesus Christ is coming very soon and that these blood moons are trying to tell us something. No doubt they are witnessing other signs to, like increased earthquake and volcanic activity and trying to tie it all together. The Bible in no way supports that the occurrence of these blood moons are teaching that Christ will return or that the Day of the Lord starts in 2014 or What added proof is there that it cannot happen yet? There are so many events which have to happen prior to Christ s return. Most of Matthew 24 has not happened yet and the Daniel 9:27 seven year deal has not yet taken place. Since this deal has not happened, there are at least seven years till Christ s return, and since the deal is to be broken in the middle of it, there is at least 3.5 years before the start of the Great Tribulation (Matthew 24:15-21; Daniel 11:31).

5 P a g e 5 When nothing happens, people like John Hagee are going to be lumped together as false prophets. He will be likened to the late Harold Camping as being a false interpreter of prophecy. BIBLICAL REFERENCES TO THE MOON BEING TURNED RED The only times God talks about blood moons is in relation to events surrounding the Day of the Lord. Joel 2:30 And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire and pillars of smoke. The time setting is the Tribulation and the heavenly signs. The Day of the lord has not yet arrived. (V31) The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood before the great and the terrible day of the Lord come. Now we are in the Day of the Lord time comes after the heavenly signs. The heavenly signs occur after the Tribulation, but they are to come before the terrible Day of the Lord. Joel 3: 15 The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining. Acts 2:20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that notable day of the Lord come. Revelation 6:12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake: and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; (V13) And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. (V14) And the heaven departed as a scroll when it was rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. A red coloured moon is a sign of God s wrath and comes about after the martyrdom of the Saints. We can also see red moons after a lot of fire has been about, the ash and dust stays in the air and makes the moon appear reddish. It depends on the amount of smoke released through a bush fire as to how reddish the moon will appear SOMETHING SERIOUS IS SURE TO HAPPEN! According to Jewish tradition, blood red moons are omens of war for Judah. So does the blood red moon tetrad of 2014 /2015 signal another season of war is rapidly approaching?
