1 WEEKLY SERVICES FRIDAY: 6:30PM SATURDAY: 9:30AM SUNDAY: 8:30AM CONGREGATION SHAARAY TEFILA 68 Bay Street, Glens Falls NY Fax: Website: OFFICE HOURS: Mon Fri: 9AM-2PM MARCH 2018 ADAR-NISSAN 5778 PRESIDENT S REPORT We will all miss Bud Kantrowitz, who passed away this past month. When my family first moved to this area, Bud and Ellie were so gracious in extending a warm welcome to us, a welcome that continued for many years to come. I hope everyone will enjoy our Havdalah and Movie night, featuring Yentl, with Barbara Streisand on Saturday, February 24th at 6:30 PM. Please also plan to join us for pizza, salad, Hamentaschen and an abbreviated Megillah reading, Wednesday, February 28th at 6PM. Come in costume! (Or not.) We plan to finish early so our children can get to bed on time for school Thursday morning. Kudos to our kitchen volunteers, who have been cutting down their use of plastic and Styrofoam plates. Not only are they helping to save the planet, but also saving money for Shaaray Tefila. What a great example for the rest of us to put our Jewish ethical teachings into practice. Please let us know what else we can all do to create a greener synagogue. A delicious chicken or vegetarian dinner will be served, along with a stimulating Seder of discussion and song. If you ask anyone who attended last year, I think they will tell you it will be worth your while to come. Although the weather has been unpredictable this winter, I would like to thank those of you who have made a special effort to come to Shabbat services. I think most of you would agree that after spending a little time together on Shabbat at Shaaray Tefila, the Northern New York sky shines a little brighter. Mark Hoffman RELIGIOUS SCHOOL Religious School continues on Sundays at 9:30 AM. Please contact Mark Hoffman at: shaarayt@yahoo.com for any questions. Anyone who borrowed a copy of the JPS Children s Bible from the Synagogue and are now finished, it would be appreciated to return as we currently need some back. Please make your reservations for our first night communal Passover Seder Friday evening, March 30th at 6:00PM. 1
