1 God uses Solomon to testify before the Queen of Sheba 1 Kings 10:1-13 Objectives: 1. The children will learn how important it is to listen, which is the first step for us to have faith and spiritual knowledge. Understand what it is to listen. We must listen (hear) attentively to the message of the Word of God. 2. God wants us to use His wisdom to be a blessing to others. Understand that reviewing what has been learned develops a personal relationship with God. Learn how important it is to put into practice what we hear about biblical principles. Because we serve God by listening to His message and putting it into practice. Introduction: Salomon was famous throughout the world for his wealth, power and wisdom. On one occasion a Queen of Sheba (also known as The Queen of the South) who came to hear him answer questions that had left everyone else stunned. RELATED TOPICS: The Queen of Sheba came with many servants and gifts of great value. Wine prepared with gifts of spices, gold and precious stones, all signs of her own successful reign. The Queen of Shaba wanted to share with Solomon all that was in her heart. This woman not only had intelligence, she was sure of it and was going to use it to judge the character of Solomon. 2 She was from a land of idolatry, she was a pagan queen but she recognized that when she came to Jerusalem (a place where they believed in only one God and that God was the one who had liberated the people from Egypt), she had to bring something of value, something to please that Almighty God. In Biblical times, it was an extremely long journey through the desert. That Kingdom was located in what is now the Country of Yemen, south of Saudi Arabia. It is only using that sense that makes us situate ourselves in the world that surrounds us. Listening means paying attention or applying the ear to hear [something or someone]. Listening implies a commitment with the speaker. The word hear comes from the Greek work Akoúo which means to listen with attention. Listening is paying attention, it is a sincere effort to understand, top ut ourselves in the place of the other person, to apply what we hear in our lives. What does the Bible say about listening? It is not the same to hear as to listen. Many heard Jesus Speak, however not all listened to Him. 28 He replied, Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it. Luke 1 1 : 28 (NIV) Listening to the Word is to receive.

3 How can we listen to the Word of God with attention? Although the Queen of Sheba had much to give Solomon to add to her fame, she herself was enriched by him. He recognized that God was the source of the glory of Solomon. Paying attention diligently. To listen to the Word of God we must first: Believe that God wants to speak to us and that we are capable of listening to Him. The Kingdom of God operates on the basis of faith. Our salvation is by faith. Faith is what opens the doors of the Supernatural. If you do not have faith that God speaks then you cannot be heard. 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God Ephesians 2: 8 (NIV) God wants us to: Learn to attentively listen to His Word, because if we do so, it will produce faith in us. 17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. Romans 1 0: 1 7 (NIV) The power of the Word of God has: All the elements that our spirit needs, so that we can become disciples and that the image of Christi f formed in our lives. The Word of God will go on and achieve its purpose:

4 10 As the rain and the snowcome down from heaven,and do not return to itwithout watering the earthand making it bud and flourish,so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, 11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty,but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. Isaiah 55: (NIV) Why did the Queen of Sheba traveled so much to see King Solomon? To test his wisdom with difficult questions, questions that Solomon could answer with the visión given by God. What did the Queen of Sheba do when she heard the wise answers of King Solomon and saw the beautiful place and temple he had built? When the queen of Sheba saw all of Solomon s wealth and wisdom, she was surpised and told him that he exceeded everything she had heard from him. She praised God. Bible Scripture: 1 Kings 10: When the queen of Sheba heard of [the constant connection of] the fame of Solomon with the name of the Lord, she came to prove him with hard questions (problems and riddles). 2 She came to Jerusalem with a very great train, with camels bearing spices, very much gold, and precious stones. When she had come to Solomon, she communed with him about all that was in her mind. 3 Solomon answered all her questions; there was nothing hidden from the king which he failed to explain to her.

6 4 When the queen of Sheba had seen all Solomon s wisdom and skill, the house he had built, 5 The food of his table, the seating of his officials, the standing at attention of his servants, their apparel, his cupbearers, his ascent by which he went up to the house of the Lord [or the burnt offerings he sacrificed], she was breathless and overcome. 6 She said to the king, It was a true report I heard in my own land of your acts and sayings and wisdom. 7 I did not believe it until I came and my eyes had seen. Behold, the half was not told me. You have added wisdom and goodness exceeding the fame I heard. 8 Happy are your men! Happy are these your servants who stand continually before you, hearing your wisdom! 9 Blessed be the Lord your God, Who delighted in you and set you on the throne of Israel! Because the Lord loved Israel forever, He made you king to execute justice and righteousness. 10 And she gave the king 120 talents of gold and of spices a very great store and precious stones. Never again came such abundance of spices as these the queen of Sheba gave King Solomon. 11 The navy also of Hiram brought from Ophir gold and a great plenty of almug (algum) wood and precious stones. 12 Of the almug wood the king made pillars for the house of the Lord and for the king s house, and lyres also and harps for the singers. No such almug wood came again or has been seen to this day. 13 King Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all she wanted, whatever she asked, besides his gifts to her from his royal bounty. So she returned to her own country, she and her servants.
