11 FEATURE ARTICLE Sharing the Blessings of Ramadan Dian Alyan MCA Outreach Director As Muslims we always look forward to the arrival of the most honorable guest, the Holy month of Ramadan. The month full of Allah's blessings and forgiveness. The month of the Qur'an and giving. For us at the Outreach Department, it also represent another meaning busy time to prepare for our Annual Open House. We praise Allah swt who has blessed us with such a wonderful community and dedicated volunteers. This year we saw another successful open house alhamdulillah, as members of our community reached out to friends and neighbors and many brought guests in large numbers. Sh. I almost left, but then I learned it was only from dawn to sunset. The elements of the event are similar to what we had done in the past (mosque tour, short talk and dinner/socialization). But this year, the best part is the ending: a brother who is originally from Peru decided to take shahada. I had never met a Muslim from Peru before, and I was joking to him saying that now we have fifty one nationalities represented at MCA. It was a wonderful way to end the event. Another testament to the fact that Islam is truly a universal message and that Allah s mercy reaches everyone regardless of nationality, age and gender. I'm grateful to Him swt for another opportunity for us to bring our guests to MCA and to share with them a few blessed hours. I also thank our co-sponsors CAIR, Why Islam and MAS for all their help. Last but not least, I thank every single volunteer for their selfless dedication year after year, month after month, day after day.
