There are no limitations to the mind except those we acknowledge. Success comes to those who become success conscious. Failure comes to those who indifferently allow themselves to become failure conscious. The starting point of all achievement is desire. Keep this constantly in mind. Weak desires bring weak results, just as a small amount of fire makes a small amount of heat. There is one quality which one must possess to win, and that is definiteness of purpose, the knowledge of what one wants, and a burning desire to possess it. Most of us go through life as failures, because we are waiting for the time to be right to start doing something worthwhile. Do not wait. The time will never be just right. Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along. If you re not learning while you re earning, you re cheating yourself out of the better portion of your compensation. Find out what you really love to do, and then find a way to make a good living doing it. One of the most common causes of failure is the habit of quitting when one is overtaken by temporary defeat. I fully realize that no wealth or position can long endure, unless built upon truth and justice; therefore, I will engage in no transaction which does not benefit all whom it affects. The world does not pay men for that which they know. It pays them for what they do, or induce others to do. No man can succeed in a line of endeavor which he does not like. The most essential step in the marketing of personal services is that of selecting an occupation into which you can throw yourself wholeheartedly. There is but one dependable method of accumulating and legally holding riches, and that is by rendering useful service. Close friends and relatives, while not meaning to do so, often handicap one through opinions and sometimes through ridicule, which is meant to be humorous. Thousands of men and women carry inferiority complexes with them all through life, because some well-meaning but ignorant person destroyed their confidence through opinions or ridicule. The subconscious mind makes no distinction between constructive and destructive thought impulses. It works with the material we feed it, through our thought impulses. The subconscious mind will translate into reality a thought driven by fear, just as readily as it will translate into reality a thought driven by courage or faith. Riches do not respond to wishes. They respond only to definite plans, backed by definite desires, through constant persistence. 3 Persistence is the direct result of habit. The mind absorbs and becomes a part of the daily experiences upon which it feeds. Fear, the worst of all enemies, can be effectively cured by forced repetition of acts of courage. The majority of people permit relatives, friends, and the public at large to so influence them that they cannot live their own lives, because they fear criticism. Original Article:
