5 PALESTINE EMERGENCY RELIEF the road to gaza: Only 2 organizations are allowed to send and distribute Aid into Gaza: United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) and the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO). HHRD is partnering with the JHCO and using the King Hussein Bridge and Karm Abu Salim GateWay to get inside Gaza where UNWRA helps distribute the Aid. We urge our donors to please continue making monetary donations so relief Items may be purchased through our office in Jordan and sent by caravans into Gaza. 8 One Million Meals Help Families in Extreme Poverty who Cannot Feed their Children Have you considered him who calls the judgment a lie? That is the one who treats the orphan with harshness, And does not urge (others) to feed the poor. [Al-Qur an: Surah Al-Ma un 107: 1-3] The current worldwide economic crisis is putting tremendous pressure on people in under-developed countries who were already struggling with poverty to begin with. Many are at a point where they can hardly feed their children even once a day. More and more people are resorting to suicide or other desperate acts due to their suffering. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, The most excellent sadaqah consists in your satisfying a hungry stomach. (Tirmidhi #1946) Every year Hidaya Foundation strives to provide one million meals throughout the world to such people in extreme poverty and in dire need. Typically, Hidaya offers packages of flour, rice, lentils, dry milk powder, sugar, tea, spices, and oil to needy families, though the nature of food supplies can vary according to the regions and countries involved.
