1 MY LIFE PROJECT - MY WORTH The MY LIFE PROJECT encompasses five things we need to reach Allah!! 1. My mirror 2. Paradise in my heart 3. Thorns on my path 4. 20/20 vision 5. My worth In our Life Project journey we have talked about the self, paradise in the heart, the fitna, the vision etc. but there is something important in this journey beyond all these and this is our value. I know myself, I have the paradise, peace within my heart, I know the thorns in my way and I have a clear vision but I need to know... What is my value, my worth? Ma keemati? My worth is in my heart! A person s value is based on his heart. This is the place which we all need to focus on and look at. How valuable a person is will depend on what he has in his heart...

2 Last time, we learnt about the creation of the heart. Allah created this flesh, our heart for a reason, not only to keep us going and moving physically in this life, but actually Allah has created our hearts to decide our value or worth; our value lies in how we use our hearts in the worship of Allah subhanna wa tallah. From the ayat in Surah Nahl, we learn that Allah brought us out of the wombs of our mother in order to do something. Reasons for the creation of the heart He subhanna wa tallah wants us to make shukr and to have gratitude. There are other reasons why Allah created the heart. We need to understand and fulfil the reason as to why Allah created this flesh... Allah fadli al insaan wa shurfahu ala kathiran min al makluqin - Allah subhanna wa tallah honoured and favoured this creation (al insaan) over all other creations. Allah subhanna wa tallah has honoured and favoured us by GIVING US THIS HEART. WE ARE FAVOURED AND HONOURED OVER OTHER CREATIONS. What gives us this favour? Bis tiadii limarufati Allah at'allah - We are the favoured and honoured because we have the tendency / qualification to know Allah subhanna wa tallah.

3 The qualification of knowing Allah Knowing Allah is having: 1. Jamilihi - the beauty 2. Kamalihi - perfection when knowing Allah 3. Faqr- Pride 4. Saadatihi - happiness Why did we get this qualification? Because we have the tendency / ability to Maaruf Allah - know Allah; when we know Allah, this is our beauty, our perfection, our pride and our happiness. Without knowing Allah we cannot understand the beauty, there is no meaning of perfection or means of happiness and pride. What makes the human being to be favoured thus?

4 Kaifa yastadid limarufati allah? How is insaan favoured in knowing Allah? How will we be prepared to know Allah subhanna wa tallah? How will we have the capability to know Allah subhanna wa tallah? How can we be qualified to know Allah subhanna wa tallah? It is said bil kalbihi - by the heart. The qualification to know Allah is by the heart. It is only with the heart that we can know Allah subhanna wa tallah. To know Allah is not with anything but the heart. That's why it has a value. This is the place where we can know Allah and that is why the heart is so important What happens when you know Allah? When you know Allah subhanna wa tallah from your heart, what reaction does this produce? It makes you: al alimu bilahh To know Allah subhanna wa tallah beyond any doubt. al mutakarrib illalah make you close to Allah, nearer to Allah, not with our limbs but we will get closer to Allah by our heart. Al amilu lilah - the one who is working for the sake of Allah. It is not the limbs (that is later) but it is the Heart which works. Al sahi lillah - the one who is struggling and striving towards Allah subhanna wa tallah. The one who is hastening and running towards the pleasure of Allah. These are the titles and qualifications of the heart when we know our Rabb Allah. What makes us to know Allah? It is our heart. We are mistaken when we think our limbs need to work for Allah, this is nothing except the working of the heart.

5 What makes the human struggle to do this? Allah subhanna wa tallah favours us and honours us because we have the qualification of knowing Allah with our heart. When we know Him, we will try and come closer to Him subhanna wa tallah and when we become closer we will struggle and strive towards Him. This will make us have the honour of knowing Allah. That is keemati fi kalbi the worth of the heart. Al kalb hua Malik - The heart is like a king Every action required from us is required from the heart!!! Al jawarih hua al khadam wal alat - The limbs are the servants and the means. They are only following the heart so don't focus on your limbs (they are like an object) - focus on your heart when you want to be close to Allah, work for Allah. What else? The actions of the heart The heart is important and valuable and this is a gift from Allah. The actions of the heart - to struggle, to strive, to come closer are actions and because the heart has an action, there is a result: Because it has actions Al kalb hua the heart:

6 1. Hua almakboul inda Allah - Allah honours us but what makes us acceptable or rejected? It is our heart. We will be Maqbool inda Allah accepted by Allah because of our heart. May Allah accept our hearts ameen. How will the heart be accepted? Ida saleema min gair Allah - If our heart is saved from everyone but Allah, then it will be accepted. You will be acceptable if your heart is free from anyone except Allah and when there is nobody in your heart except Allah. Allah will accept us because our hearts are acceptable. The acceptance is if the heart is accepted. You equal your heart. Nobody should take any piece of your heart. The scholars say Al kalb Al bait ul Mohabbat wa tabi Allah - the heart is the place of love for Allah and magnifies and honours Allah. 2. Al kalb hua al maujoob ain lillah - May Allah protect us from the other aspect in which the hearts have separated from Allah, they have barriers and will be rejected. What makes the barrier / rejected? If the heart is id taghrag bil gair lillah - if the heart is drowned in anyone other than Allah it will have a barrier and will be rejected. On the Day of Judgement in Hellfire, people will be separated from Allah and will not be able to see Allah because their hearts will have a barrier; they will be rejected because their hearts were drowning in others other than Allah. The heart will be acceptable only if we are busy with Allah subhanna wa tallah and free from anyone else. It will be drowned if it was busy with anyone apart from Allah subhanna wa tallah. Working on our hearts... Al kalb hua ladi - it is very important to work on our hearts as this is the one which will be accepted or rejected. Al kalb hua ladi yasadbilkarib min Allah - Our hearts will be filled with joy and happiness when we become close to Allah, think of Allah, know Allah... The kalb is the place which feels happy when we come close to Allah. Allah created our heart to only feel happy when we become close to Allah, this is the source of happiness. Fayaflahu ida zaka - need to purify the heart in order to get the acceptance. Sayas lahu - need to purify the heart in order to get the acceptance. What do we do? It is a big responsibility. We need to purify the heart, remove any distractions. Purify the heart from any disease.

7 When we get the success it will be easy to work, to struggle and strive, the heart will be light. This insaan (kalb) yashka Ida dana bahu - will be misguided if he has polluted his heart/dirtied his heart and the heart will be dirty if he is drowning in anything else other than Allah and this causes the sicknesses of the heart. It is a very important link Allah has given us in order to attain success. Don't pollute the heart and dirty it as this will make it miserable. The misery and happiness lie in the heart. How to attain the happiness? If we know Allah and become closer to Allah then we will find the need to purify the heart. With purification the heart attains happiness & success. Now the heart is a place of success and happiness!!! Connection between heart and limbs Al kalbi hua al mutiiae hakikatan lillahi tallah - the heart is the place of mutiiae - obedience, and hakikatan - reality. If the heart is obedient you will be obedient and vice versa. Therefore it is so important to work on purifying the heart. Waladii yantashiru Ali aljuarhi min - The place of obedience is in the heart, but what we see on the outside are anwaru wa athrahu - the actions spread by our limbs and body, the akhlaaq - manners and ibaadatihi - worship. These are the consequences of the obedience of the heart.

8 The impact of your hearts obedience is: Kimati fil kalbi The value of the heart!!! You will see an obedient person through his actions and Al kalb yuhasana - The heart will show the beauty on your appearance outside. The outside will rely on the beauty of the heart. If there is darkness / ugliness in the heart, the outside will appear evil and dark. Thus we find the an-noor beauty and the ad-dhulm - ugliness are both found in the heart. Subhanallah the heart is the main characteristic in the body!!! It is: Place of acceptance or rejection, Obedience or disobedience. Place of beauty or ugliness which is reflected outside May Allah subhanna wa tallah allow us to focus on our value our heart ameen!!! Reflect: Insaan is favoured over other creations because we have a heart. The heart has the quality to know Allah. Knowing Allah is having: 1. Jamilihi - the beauty 2. Kamalihi - perfection when knowing Allah 3. Faqr- Pride 4. Saadatihi - happiness When we know Allah, we become closer to Him, strive and struggle towards Him, our heart is filled with Him, only then does the heart attain true happiness and beauty. The heart's inner beauty / ugliness will radiate on the outside. True happiness lies in the heart knowing Allah. It is important to purify the heart for the heart to contain only Allah. This leads to obedience of the heart which leads to obedience of the limbs which are the means. This leads to the heart being Maqbool Allah - to be accepted by Allah subhanna wa tallah which is what we were created for.
