For Coronation, water of the seven rivers and the sea was brought. Ganga,Sindhu,Yam una,godavari,krishna,narmada,,kaveri,are the 7 rivers. The Coronation Ceremony Everywhere,it was an atmosphere of joy with singers singing and musicians playing instruments. Shivaji Maharaj sat on a golden seat with canopy (Chhatra) and fans (chamare). Priestss were there, carrying ghee, honey and curds. Gagabhatt held a golden vessel filled with water from seven rivers, over Shivaji Raje s head. He chanted Coronation mantras, with water of seven rivers dripping on Raje s head, from 100 tiny holes of the vessel. After ablution, Maharaj Bowed before Jijamata and touched her feet. 3

4 Shivaji Raje sat on the throne, at an auspicious hour, with Maharani Soyarabai and Crown Prince Sambhaji sitting next to him and his 8 ministers standing on either side. Holding a canopy with golden lining and pearl tassels over his head Gagabhatt said, Victory be to Shiva Chhatrapati, now crowned king, the ornament of the race of warriors. Everyone, in one voice wished victory to Shivaji; Guns fired from fort after fort.
