5 Franciscan Renewal Center Peace. Renewal. Good. Dear Friends, Once again, I have the pleasure of presenting you with the newest edition of the Casa s Catalog of Events for the coming year. This issue offers a wide variety of retreats, classes, workshops, courses, and special events. This year s roster of presenters is more diverse in age, gender, background, and experience than ever before. I am most proud to remind you that, while the Casa s programs are supported by registration fees, no one is ever turned away for lack of funds. Scholarships are available for the asking, and these are funded by generous donors who want the Casa experience to be available to everyone. So we don t lose money when someone receives a scholarship. Pass the word! I m also aware that, while our catalog reaches over 9,000 households, there are many people who never see it. That s where you come in! Invite your friends to an event here. Bring them with you! Let them experience the warmth, the welcome, and the affirmation that people invariably find in these peaceful and uplifting surroundings. Have YOU made a retreat lately? Once a year, or once every other year, wouldn t be too often to take a break from your usual routine and find renewal for yourself, not only in spirit, but in mind and body as well. We are made not only to work, but also to play, learn, worship, AND rest. The Casa has numerous opportunities for you in fact, we ve written a whole book about it! Enjoy the catalog. Keep it handy, consult it often, and participate in the events that call to you most deeply. Peace and good, as always, Father Joe Schwab, OFM Executive Director For information about the Conventual Church of Our Lady of the Angels, sacraments, catechesis or any of our programs or offerings, go to thecasa.org or call

14 SEP RETREAT RETREAT FOR VETERANS Healing of Memories for Veterans Friday, September 28 Sunday, September 30, 2018 Margaret Fell Healing of Memories for Veterans is a three day overnight program designed to help victims of emotional, psychological and spiritual wounds inflicted by war, human rights abuses and other traumatic circumstances. It was created by Rev. Michael Lapsley, SSM, an Anglican missionary priest who in 1990 suffered the loss of his hands and the sight in one eye from a letter bomb that was sent to him in Zimbabwe by a supporter of the proapartheid government in South Africa. He later founded the Healing of Memories Institute (healing-memories.org). The workshop has been held for over 250 veterans in Arizona with excellent results. Veterans who attend feel that the experience has been a major step in their healing process. The following quote is typical of the reaction of vets after the program: I have a better grasp of my experiences from my last deployment and the negative hold they have had on me. I feel as if I have made progress in working through these experiences, owning what I am, letting go of the rest and moving towards freedom and healing. Retreat fee: Free for Veterans. Pre-registration required. Call Mike Wold, This program is provided free to veterans through generous donations from individuals and organizations. 10 Call to register l

One of the many reasons this is so unfortunate is that the sacrifice, formation and generativity that comes with parenthood are some of the most spiritually insightful moments of our lives. Through mindfulness and intentionality, this discussion will provide participants with a new awareness of life that will open our imagination and lives to a deeper sense of holiness and God's presence. 60 MAY RETREAT SERIES RETREAT FOR VETERANS Healing of Memories for Veterans Friday, May 17 Sunday, May 19, 2019 Margaret Fell Healing of Memories for Veterans is a three day overnight program designed to help victims of emotional, psychological and spiritual wounds inflicted by war, human rights abuses and other traumatic circumstances.
