Forgive us the sins of our youth and the sins of our age, the sins of our soul and the sins of our body, our secret and our whispering sins, our presumptuous and our careless sins, the sins we have done to please ourselves, and the sins we have done to please others. 4

The Song of Response Grace Greater Than All My Sin 6

The Affirmation of Faith God Consecrates Us by His Word People: Hear, O Israel: the LORD our God, the LORD is one. The OT Scripture Reading Judges 4:1-7 RE Jim Aldrich 1 And the people of Israel again did what was evil in the sight of the LORD after Ehud died. 2 And the LORD sold them into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, who reigned in Hazor. The commander of his army was Sisera, who lived in Harosheth-hagoyim. 3 Then the people of Israel cried out to the LORD for help, for he had 900 chariots of iron and he oppressed the people of Israel cruelly for twenty years. 4 Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, was judging Israel at that time. 5 She used to sit under the palm of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim, and the people of Israel came up to her for judgment. 6 She sent and summoned Barak the son of Abinoam from Kedesh-naphtali and said to him, "Has not the LORD, the God of Israel, commanded you, 'Go, gather your men at Mount Tabor, taking 10,000 from the people of Naphtali and the people of Zebulun. 7 And I will draw out Sisera, the general of Jabin s army, to meet you by the river Kishon with his chariots and his troops, and I will give him into your hand'?" Leader: The Word of the Lord. People: Thanks be to God. 7

*The Psalm Psalm 100 The NT Scripture Reading Matthew 25:14-30 RE Jim Aldrich 14 "For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted to them his property. 15 To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away. 16 He who had received the five talents went at once and traded with them, and he made five talents more. 17 So also he who had the two talents made two talents more. 18 But he who had received the one talent went and dug in the ground and hid his master s money. 19 Now after a long time the master of those servants came and settled accounts with them. 20 And he who had received the five talents came forward, bringing five talents more, saying, 'Master, you delivered to me five talents; here I have made 8

five talents more.' 21 His master said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.' 22 And he also who had the two talents came forward, saying, 'Master, you delivered to me two talents; here I have made two talents more.' 23 His master said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.' 24 He also who had received the one talent came forward, saying, 'Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you scattered no seed, 25 so I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. Here you have what is yours.' 26 But his master answered him, 'You wicked and slothful servant! You knew that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I scattered no seed? 27 Then you ought to have invested my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received what was my own with interest. 28 So take the talent from him and give it to him who has the ten talents. 29 For to everyone who has will more be given, and he will have an abundance. But from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. 30 And cast the worthless servant into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.' Leader: This is the Word of the Lord. People: Thanks be to God. The Prayer of the Church RE Jim Aldrich The Offering The Offertory Song Please place Friendship Registration form in Offering Plate Debi Hensley The Preparatory Song Look for Me Around the Throne Worship Choir The Dismissal Children (ages 3 to Second Grade) dismissed to Children s Church The Scripture 1 Corinthians 11:17-22 Rev. Freddy Fritz 17 But in the following instructions I do not commend you, because when you come together it is not for the better but for the worse. 18 For, in the first place, when you come together as a church, I hear that there are divisions among you. And I believe it in part, 19 for there must be factions among you in order that those who are genuine among you may be recognized. 20 When you come together, it is not the Lord s supper that you eat. 21 For in eating, each one goes ahead with his own meal. One goes hungry, another gets drunk. 22 What! Do you not have houses to eat and drink in? Or do you despise the church of God and humiliate those who have noth- 9

ing? What shall I say to you? Shall I commend you in this? No, I will not. The Prayer of Illumination The Sermon Abuses of the Lord s Supper Rev. Freddy Fritz The Sermon Notes The Prayer of Dedication 10

God Commissions Us to Service *The Closing Song Surrender No more running, no more hiding. No pretending I'm OK. No more struggling, no more fighting. Come and have your way. Chorus I surrender. I bow down. I surrender, here and now. I am captured, yours forever. I surrender. I bow down. You pursue me. You have found me. I fall helpless at your feet. Your possession, I am conquered. Love has set me free. Chorus I come and worship, Come and worship Worship Christ, The risen King. Chorus I am captured, yours forever. I surrender. I bow down. 12 Welcome to Our Guests If you re worshipping with us for the first time, please use the forms in the Friendship Register. 13 church web site. Print copies are available today in the church narthex. If you have any trouble accessing the Trumpet online or as an attachment, please contact Doug Knox ). New Procedures! Praise the Lord! The overflow is now open to members. Because of this, we have some new procedures for the area near the kitchen in the sanctuary. The Meet and Greet Cafe will be open before Sunday School and after Worship Service to provide snacks and fellowship, especially to our visitors. From 8:45 to 11:45 p.m., this area will be closed, and we ask that people please not walk through here since it will be set up for after the Worship Service. When the Worship Service is over, please allow visitors and seniors to go first. Thank you for being flexible and welcoming to all of our visitors! Scripture Reading George Guthrie, author of Read The Bible for Life, has noted some important data about Bible reading practices of American Christians. Research has demonstrated that reading the Bible on a daily basis is the number one predictor of spiritual maturity, but only 16% of those who regularly attend church do so. 25% of churchgoers don t read the Bible at all, and more than 50% only read their Bible occasionally. With such limited participation in this critical spiritual discipline, it is not surprising that only 37% of those who attend church regularly say that reading and studying the Bible has made a significant difference in the way they live their lives. Facts & Trends, Spring 2011, p.26. How are you doing reading through the Scriptures? Many of you have taken the challenge of reading through the Bible in a Year. Please let Pastor Freddy know when you have completed reading. The Good News of Christmas You can give the gift of Christmas, and it s easier than you think. Just pray for family, friends and neighbors. Then, invest $1 for a carry bag with a New Testament, a Gospel booklet and an invitation card for inviting those in your sphere of influence to one of our many holiday events, or maybe a brunch at your house. To order packets write GNOC and the number of packets you want on your Friendship Register form and place it in the offering plate, or contact Bert Barber ( , rbarbert@ij.net). Thanksgiving Dinner and Service Sunday, November 20: At 5:00 p.m. we will have our annual Thanksgiving Dinner and Service. This is a wonderful time for our church family.
