2 AUGUST 5, 2018 ~ THE 18 th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME THEME You and I can easily generate for ourselves. Our God wishes us to be free from such anxiety, and to perceive his providence. While we often still think of prayer primarily as asking God for something, prayer, properly understood, is a conversation with God or with the saints. Just as we cannot hold a conversation with another person unless he can hear us, the very act of praying is an implicit recognition of the presence of God or the saints here with us. And in praying, we strengthen that recognition of the presence of God, which draws us closer to Him. That is why the Church recommends that we pray frequently and make prayer an important part of our everyday lives. Prayer Soothes the Anxious Soul Don t limit your prayer times only to certain times or occasions. Let prayer flow regularly throughout your waking hours, especially when fear or anxiety disturbs you. Nowhere can a man find a quieter or more untroubled retreat than in his own soul. (Marcus Aurelius) Please realize that all prayer is a conversation with God. In your own words, in your own voice, turn to Him. Ask Him in the name of Jesus to protect you, your family, and your nation. Rest assured that Jesus has promised to be with us always.
