People: We are called to boldly share the good news of God s love. Minister: Open your hearts, O people, to God s great power and love. And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability. THIS WEEK UMC General Conference Now through May 20, 2016, Portland, OR The United Methodist Church s top legislative body meets every four years to review church law, study social and public policy, and determine budgets for church-wide programs. This week, Methodists from around the world will gather in Portland, OR to do the work of our global denomination. We invite you to be in prayer for the leadership of the Methodist Church and to follow their progress online at Festival of Homiletics May 16-20, 2016, PRUMC The Festival of Homiletics is a week-long conference that brings together ministers and professors to discourse on preaching, worship and culture. Through services, lectures and workshops, participants can refresh their methodologies of proclaiming the gospel. The conference is open only to registrants but all are welcome to attend the opening worship service Monday, May 16 at 6:30 pm in the Sanctuary. Summer Study: Half Truths Thursdays, starting May 19, 7:00 pm, B118 Deidra Harrell will lead a 5-week study on Adam Hamilton s book, Half Truths, which explores clichés we often think are in the Bible.
