After the Sabbath, as the first day of the week was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. And suddenly there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord, descending from heaven, came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. For fear of him the guards shook and became like dead men. But the angel said to the women, Do not be afraid; I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for he has been raised, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples, He has been raised from the dead, and indeed he is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him. This is my message for you. 8 WE RESPOND TO GOD S WORD Then, all standing, the People say THE APOSTLES CREED I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. Habitat for Humanity Offering At the beginning of Lent, we were asked as a Congregation to set aside a self-denial offering each day as a part of our Lenten discipline. Easter Sunday is the day we receive the Lenten Self-Denial Offering to support the building of a house for Habitat for Humanity. What could be a more appropriate way of giving glory to God and celebrating the day of Resurrection than our generous participation in this most meaningful outreach project! Please be prayerful, generous, and joyful about your participation!
