8 FAMILY WORSHIP GUIDE At FPC, we believe that family worship is important. Recognizing time challenges of a busy week with work and school, we want to make it as easy as possible for you. So we hope you find this Family Worship Guide helpful and use it in your homes this week. Each week addresses a question from Westminster Shorter Catechism, with a daily scripture reference, key thought, and questions for family discussion. You can use this abbreviated version by simply taking this bulletin home with you today, or get complete version ed to you weekly by subscribing at fpcj.ms/fam-devo. Or contact church office at or receptionist@fpcjackson.org. This Week s Focus: Question 105: What do we pray for in fifth petition? Answer: In fifth petition (which is, And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors) we pray, that God, for Christ s sake, would freely pardon all our sins; which we are rar encouraged to ask, because by his grace we are enabled from heart to forgive ors. MONDAY Scripture: Luke 16:19-23 Key Thought: The fifth petition teaches us that we should be more careful for our soul than for our body. Which is more important: forgiveness of sins or provision of daily bread? Why? Which do we tend to be more careful of: getting our daily bread, or getting our sins forgiven? TUESDAY Scripture: Luke 7:36-50 Key Thought: The fifth petition teaches us that sin is a debt. Why is sin called a debt? What does this teach us? How is our nature like those who are always in debt? WEDNESDAY Scripture: Read 1 John 1:8-10; Psalm 32:5 Key Thought: The fifth petition teaches us that we must confess our sin. What will happen if a man ignores his debts? What considerations tend to keep a man from facing his debts? What promise do we have from God concerning our debt of sin? THURSDAY Scripture: Hebrews 9:1-28 Key Thought: The fifth petition teaches us to look to Christ s blood for forgiveness. Is re a difference between feeling guilty and being guilty? Explain. How is guilt of our debt erased by blood of Christ? FRIDAY Scripture: Matw 18:23-35; Matw 6:14-15 Key Thought: The fifth petition teaches us to imitate God s forgiveness. Which comes first: God s forgiveness of our debts, or our forgiveness of those who sin against us? What does an unwillingness to forgive ors reveal?
