1 The Lord s Day AUGUST 17, :00 a.m. WELCOME, CONGREGATIONAL MINISTRIES, AND INFORMATION Please use this time to set your hearts on Christ and pray for the Word, our worship, and that holiness and reverence will be known among us. PRELUDE Adagio from Sonata I F. Mendelssohn CALL TO WORSHIP **HYMN OF PRAISE Crown Him with Many Crowns #295 **INVOCATION **THE LORD S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts; as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil; for Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. *HYMN OF RESPONSE How Sweet and Awesome Is the Place #469 SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM (Please do not use flash cameras during worship. We will be happy to provide an opportunity for pictures after the service) PRAYER Rev. Joel Smit WELCOME (Please sign the registration pad with complete address) THE GIVING OF GOD S TITHES AND YOUR OFFERINGS OFFERTORY O Rest in the Lord F. Mendelssohn *DOXOLOGY #731 *THE OFFERTORY PRAYER ANTHEM A Song of Paul A. Fedak Should I rehearse with human voice the words which angels make their choice, devoid of love, my song resounds magnificent but empty. And should I preach with earnest tone and know whatever can be known, and move the hills by faith alone, if I lack love I m nothing. In love is patience always found, for love kind hearts make common ground; from love, conceit and pride take flight, and jealousy is banished. Love keeps no score of what s gone wrong, nor sings a pessimistic song, nor lets regret or guilt prolong, for love expects tomorrow. Let strange and startling language cease, let tongues their ecstasy release, Let knowledge come and go in peace these things are not eternal. For all the thought and skill we show are but a stage through which we grow till, face to face with God, we ll know that love which lasts forever.

5 Evening Worship August 17, :00 PM PRELUDE CALL TO WORSHIP *HYMN OF PRAISE O Thou Who the Shepherd of Israel Art #349 *INVOCATION *CONFESSION Westminster Confession of Faith XXXI I. For the better government, and further edification of the Church, there ought to be such assemblies as are commonly called synods or councils: and it belongeth to the overseers and other rulers of the particular churches, by virtue of their office, and the power which Christ hath given them for edification and not for destruction, to appoint such assemblies; and to convene together in them, as often as they shall judge it expedient for the good of the church. III. All synods or councils, since the Apostles times, whether general or particular, may err; and many have erred. Therefore they are not to be made the rule of faith, or practice; but to be used as a help in both. IV. Synods and councils are to handle, or conclude nothing, but that which is ecclesiastical: and are not to intermeddle with civil affairs which concern the commonwealth, unless by way of humble petition in cases extraordinary; or, by way of advice, for satisfaction of conscience, if they be thereunto required by the civil magistrate. *PSALM OF PRAISE Psalms for Worship, 122A PRAYER **PSALTER READING Psalm 28 p. 793 *HYMN OF PREPARATION Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken #345 (Children dismissed) SCRIPTURE READING 1 Corinthians 5:1-5 SERMON Dealing With Sin Within The Camp Rev.
