1 Christ Lutheran Church A Stephen Ministry Congregation ** FLOWERS on the Altar today are given to the Glory of God in thanksgiving for 43 years of marriage blessings given to Paul and Sally Splittgerber. ** A STEWARDSHIP REMINDER As Christ Lutheran has begun a new fiscal year on July 1, it is time for us as God s redeemed stewards to prayerfully consider an increase in our financial offering, especially as new staff is added to fill vacant positions. The Stewardship Committee ** THE BELL CHOIR IS RECRUITING: Christ Lutheran's Bell Choir will begin meeting in September. We lost a few members due to moves and are looking for some new members. If you are interested, please contact Lisa Moreno at ** KIDS FUN NIGHT: Wednesday, September 14 is our first event for children, age 4 through grade 6. We will play 9 Square in the Air, either in the gym or on the church lawn from 5:15-6:45 p.m. Please register on the church website at Adult supervisors are still needed for this and future events. If we do not get an adult supervisor for this event, it will have to be cancelled. If you are interested in helping, please contact Jennifer Bazyn at (402) Mission Memo Church Workers Around the World September 4, 2016 WEEKLY FOCUS Rev. Stuart and Debra Freese serve the Lord as career missionaries in Ghana and other countries in West Africa. (They were gifted by the Big Mission Event 2015.) Pastor Freese will be a church planter and help to train and equip the saints in this part of the world. Debra will be working with our missionaries as Area Communication Director for West Africa. Both Pastor and Deb grew up in the Plymouth, Nebraska area. They have two children: Alicia is a Sergeant in the Marine Corps. Caleb who lives in Weston, NE is a Camp Counselor. Pray that God will use Stuart and Debra in a special way to open the hearts of the people in these countries to the knowledge and saving grace of Jesus Christ. Pray that God strengthens them for the work He has prepared for them to do. The event will feature a Sloppy-Joe Dinner, silent auction, raffle and bake sale. Proceeds will go toward medical expenses incurred by the family during Teresa s illness. ** PRISCILLAS are asked to provide bake sale items for the Teresa Slahn fundraiser on September 11. 4 ** PRISCILLAS LADIES NIGHT OUT will be Tuesday, September 13, at 6:30 p.m. at the Immaculata Monastery and Spirituality Center, 300 North 18 th Street. The activity begins at 6:30 p.m. and features a wine-tasting event. The Priscillas are also making this a Fundraising Event to raise funds for the high chairs and cribs needed in the new Helping Hands Child Care. Supplemental Funds from Thrivent will also be used for this fundraising. Cost for the evening is $10 per person and this will include the wine tasting from Jim s Fine Wine and hors de oeuvres for the evening. Guests are welcome to attend.
